A fantastic old building, The King’s Head - Billericay has a unique black and white timbered appearance, dating back to 1750. Serving well-loved pub cuisine, which can be enjoyed from the pretty beer garden in summer or by the log-fire in winter, it has a rustic oak and brick design. Adorning the walls and surfaces are other pastoral trinkets, such as cosy candles and art.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The King’s Head menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The King’s Head ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
The Kingfisher is a country haven, but just 6 minutes’ drive from Billericay.

Unfortunately the service was not as good as usual. We were seated next to the area where there are openings in the wall. In the kings head . The waitress apart from giving us our meal handed everything through the gap. We were not asked if we wanted more drinks etc. We waited a long time for the bill and asked for that . Again pushed through the opening. I found it was so rude as if she could not be bothered. The restaurant was quite empty . I could see her mainly chatting to bar staff at the bar area.

Really nice pub, good choice of food. Service was ok - they were busy so a little slow.

Firstly 3 of the 8 starters had to be sent back and replacements for 2 of them were ok. The 2 rib eye steaks were not very nice, tough.
Service was good, eaten here many times over the years but will have to give it a miss for a while now.

This is a lovely place and with great character, lots off space for parking. Open log fire . Both my wife and myself enjoyed our 3 course dinner from start to finish.
Each course came with the right size portion and was presented beautifully.
I have 1 small niggle and that is a small gap in the window at the top letting in a draught but I guess that goes with the age of the building needless to say we are more than happy to return and recommend to others , for which I already have.
Many thanks Gary
