Set in a Tudor inn dating back to the 1400s, The Kings Arms brings elegant British cuisine to the quaint, boutique-filled village of Old Amersham. Housed in the oldest part of the hotel, the medieval-style dining room is filled with twisted wooden beams, lattice windows and grand open fireplaces, and the bar offers an impressive stock of smooth cask ales and fine wines.

Breakfast in the restaurant offers both continental and English cooked breakfasts, with a variety of choices. The A La Carte dinner menu features roast pheasant with truffle mousse, braised red cabbage, glazed chestnuts, redcurrant & juniper berry sauce, grilled Angus cross beef rump, herb butter, chips & side salad, and pan-fried scallops with Parmentier potatoes, roasted cherry vine tomato sauce & a fresh salad. Apple tart with Amaretto ice cream & calvados raisins leads the tempting desserts menu.

During the day the traditional, beamed 15th century bar is open to provide a range of drinks & bar food. The Kings Arms hotel has been used extensively in TV and film productions, including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Miss Marple & Midsomer Murders. It has also hosted many famous & historic guests, such as Oliver Cromwell.

I had the pork belly which was very good. Friends enjoyed their Croque Monsieur and Ploughman's (wasn't your standard one). Jug of water with ice replaced without having to ask for another one. It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed sitting outside under the open sided gazebo. Obviously not their fault but there were lots of wasps. On reflection, they could perhaps hang wasp catchers eg attractive glass at this time of the year. Will definitely return.

Excellent meal, lovely staff, shame we were the only ones in the restaurant but it was Monday lunchtime. Hand sanitisers when you walked in and a little bottle on each table.

Great food, excellent friendly and attentive staff will definitely be back. The team had a difficult customer on a neighbouring table and dealt with the rudeness admirably.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch in the restaurant, it was a family celebration. The service was excellent as well as the food. Also excellent wine with a good choice. Nice atmosphere, really couldn't be faulted.

A beautiful Tudor building located on the Old Town High Street, with ample parking to the rear and an original charming interior. The menu was compact but well balanced and there was something for all members of my party. The food was excellent, well presented and the service courteous and efficient.

Had to ask the table to be wiped as it was dirty. We just had roast beef and the meat was very tender and veg cooked nicely, gravy was not to my liking, looked like chocolate sauce, would go back but ask without gravy.

Lovely venue and staff. Enjoyed the evening very much. I had the Mediterranean vegetables and my husband had the gammon. They were both excellent. Portions are huge. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.
