Set in a Tudor inn dating back to the 1400s, The Kings Arms brings elegant British cuisine to the quaint, boutique-filled village of Old Amersham. Housed in the oldest part of the hotel, the medieval-style dining room is filled with twisted wooden beams, lattice windows and grand open fireplaces, and the bar offers an impressive stock of smooth cask ales and fine wines.
Breakfast in the restaurant offers both continental and English cooked breakfasts, with a variety of choices. The A La Carte dinner menu features roast pheasant with truffle mousse, braised red cabbage, glazed chestnuts, redcurrant & juniper berry sauce, grilled Angus cross beef rump, herb butter, chips & side salad, and pan-fried scallops with Parmentier potatoes, roasted cherry vine tomato sauce & a fresh salad. Apple tart with Amaretto ice cream & calvados raisins leads the tempting desserts menu.
During the day the traditional, beamed 15th century bar is open to provide a range of drinks & bar food. The Kings Arms hotel has been used extensively in TV and film productions, including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Miss Marple & Midsomer Murders. It has also hosted many famous & historic guests, such as Oliver Cromwell.
The Kings Arms Restaurant in Amersham is a 15-minute walk from Amersham Rail Station.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 days and had a really good experience.
Sunday lunch was excellent. The rib of beef was really tender and tasty and the sticky toffee pudding was superb!
We had full English breakfast both mornings which was faultless.
Our two young grand children were catered for with kindness and patience and the ambience of the dining room along with the excellent service made the whole experience extremely enjoyable.

We went mid week for our daughters 17th birthday and had a lovely evening. The menu choices were just right for our family and we all enjoyed our choices og onglet steak, lamb rump, shin of beef, sticky toffee pudding and 2 fresh and seasonal fruit puddings. Will definitely come again to try. The waiting staff were friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. It was great not feel rushed.

I took my partner to the King Arms for a weekday lunch treat, the service was both friendly and prompt. I particularly appreciated the willingness of the waiter to cut up my partners meal as she struggles a bit owing to Alzheimer's Disease. I thought the menu choice was just about right as was the ambiance. Oh and can recommend the Brakespeare beer!!
