A light, airy and contemporary space which pays tribute to the historic features of the building, The Kings Arms offers a range of modern British dishes. Watch chefs at work in the open plan theatre kitchen, crafting homemade burgers, sizzling quality meat cuts and rustling up a range of fresh fish, salads and sharing boards. A children's menu complete with fun activity sheet is also available.

Guests can watch their food cooked fresh to order in the open-plan theatre kitchen, and listen to meats sizzle on the unique charcoal-fuelled Josper grill.

Meats are of premium quality, including 100% British cuts sourced from Aubrey Allen, who won 'Ethical Meat Supplier of the Year' 3 times. Pork, chicken and eggs are all free range, and beef is dry-aged on the bone for 21 days to tenderise the meat and intensify the flavour.

I was a little disappointed with the new layout, we chose to sit by the window as it felt like a good all round view rather than the new bench seating area. I was cold throughout the meal so had to sit with my coat round my shoulders.
I chose Fish Pie. The vegetables when served were cold, I did inform our waitress she promptly reheated them, they were then tepid.
I didn't mention it further as I was out for an enjoyable evening and didn't want to make more fuss. I also found the fish pie dry.
We did enjoy our evening out however I did not perticularly enjoy the meal I chose.

The food was fine for pub food, I did have to wait for some time for my dinner to arrive after my fiends dinners were all bought out which was a bit of a pain. The cocktails were lovely and the place was really busy with a great atmosphere.

Service was excellent. I left in the special requirements box gluten and dairy free not expecting much. When we were given menus the gluten free symbol was pointed out. We were also given a separate booklet with every allergy or intolerance listed under each meal. The waitress who took our order was also aware of our requirements and made sure she wrote down our intolerances with the chosen meal so my buttered potatoes weren't buttered. We didn't remotely feel difficult as we often feel in the past. There was a massive selection even with our requirements so took a while to decide. On top of all that the food was really good.

A good experience, considering it was so near Christmas. The service was slowish, but didn't matter as a lot of chat was order of the day. Our Waiter was excellent and fun. Food was mostly good, starters splendid, fish (hake) very nice, but the roast beef was found to be a bit tough. All in all a very pleasant experience -this is the third time I've eaten here, and would definitely come again.
