Taking pride in its beautiful location, The Kestrel near Knareborough serves well-loved British pub food and has a luxurious Innkeeper’s Lodge. In keeping with its remote setting, The Kestrel has an al fresco beer garden and an eye-catching stone design, including the warm hearth for winter dining.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Kestrel menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Kestrel ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
Despite its country location, The Kestrel is just 7 minutes’ drive from Knaresborough, and 6 minutes from Harrogate.

A warm welcome awaited us , on arrival I was escorted to our table and asked if they could get me a drink she was very hospitable, the table was clean and laid , the food was delicious as was the coffee , I book here quite often and have never had need to complain

We enjoyed a tasty Sunday roast at The Kestrel. Loved the idea of a mini pudding with coffee. The staff were friendly and the Christmas decorations made for a cheery, family atmosphere.

The steaks we had were not as good as in the past very grisly they change my husbands I just made the best of mine that was my own fault as I never said about mine the chips had been recooked and very crispy when the new steak and chips came the chips were fresh cooked ones and the second steak was better but not as good as in the past The waiter Matt was very good and an excellent waiter a credit to the restaurant will still continue to eat here as this is the first time in lots of times of been here and we all can get it wrong from time to time

The food was not good at all - the hunters chicken was poor and difficult to cut, and the scampi soggy and tasteless. Very disappointing.

Three friends for a lunch out. First class, service friendly, table fine, meal excellent. The starter of pate was just enough and artistically plated. My burger great, my only criticism would be the brioche bun, too sweet, but that is my personal opinion. Wine reasonable both in quality and price, all that and a beautiful day. What more could one ask.
