Restaurant description

Just a short distance from the coast and the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, The Jack Rabbit enjoys a great location near Plymouth. In a classic red brick and cream building, it boasts well-loved British pub food, plush sofas and a charming brick hearth. This fire can warm winter meals, while the garden can be used for summer dining.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Jack Rabbit menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Jack Rabbit ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The service was very good, even though it was very busy we were not under any pressure to hurry with our meal. The food was excellent. All in all a good experience and will definitely go back.

Enjoyable evening. Steak was well cooked but plate was rather sparse. An option of green vegetables would have been nice. Waitresses were pleasant without being over bearing.

We are regular diners at this restaurant. Invariably the food is good and service prompt and efficient. On this occasion my wife had the fish and chips which unfortunately was 'rubbery and tough and not flakey'. In addition my son paid the bill £52 and it was not until later at home that we found out our 25% discount had not been applied to the bill (ref4633a9233).

Lovely ambiance log fire burning, food was good and the service was attentive prompt and not intrusive, overall a lovely place to have a relaxing meal, I would take my family there and will certainly be going back again.

Unfortunately we had to leave as they had had a fire the day before, so couldn't cook steaks.

Excellent waitress and didn't have to wait too long for our food.

A warm welcome on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Good range of food to choose from, mains including three roast meats, pies, fish, vegetarian dishes and a good children's menu. Wide variety of choice for dessert. Waiter told us there were problems with the grill in the kitchen but returned to us twice with updates on how long we would have to wait. We didn't have starters and waited around twenty minutes for the mains to arrive despite the problem mentioned, a reasonable delay. Food was hot and plentiful, atmosphere very pleasant and staff attentive. This was the first time we used the booking service and would do so again.

Was disappointed that after requesting a table in the front main, warm, dining room was taken to the very back where it was cold and had no atmosphere. The maitre de denied that I had requested a table in the front but they did reseat us after we complained. What was the point of making a specific request only to be ignored.
