The haddock risotto starter was particularly impressive. The sticky toffee pudding was absolutely excellent. The food here is usually very high quality and alongside knowledgable and good quality service. However, on this occasion, some of our party selected elements from the vegan menu. This was not up to the standard of the usual menus and the dessert was pretty poor (the crumble). The overall experience was still good however.

A lovely evening for my partner’s birthday. We had the tasting menu which was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. The decor looks a little dated and doesn’t quite match really modern and interesting food. We will definitely go back.

Had high expectations of this restaurant, some of which were met and some which left a bit of a bitter taste. It was a Tuesday evening and having heard positive reviews we decided to pop in for the tasting menu. The menu was £45 for five courses and we also had paired wine for an additional £29 pp.
The table was strangely set for two, and ended up feeling more like I was in a meeting than eating, also the waiter who took us to our table mixed up the drinks.
There was bread on the table to begin with which was nice and a shot of mushroom soup which was flavourful, although a fairly standard way to begin a tasting menu.
The service was slow and we were served by four different people as the night went on which was rather confusing.
The first course was tasty with a scotch quail egg and some delicious ham and picallili. The matching wine was lovely and full of flavour and body, although the wine 'chat' explaining it was rather monotonous and scripted - a recurring theme throughout the evening.
The second course took about 20 minutes to arrive after clearing and was not good. The main issue was that the star of the dish, the cod loin, was so dry it was barely edible. Both of us left the loin and enjoyed the curried cauliflower sauce with the fresh vegetables. The wine that matched was bland and really added nothing to this course.
The main was good, with a delicious beef fillet, although the promised 'big and bold' red to match was a real let down.
Course 4 was cheese - some very good cheeses were cut, although there needed to be more chutney. A very nice lovely port to match this course.
Finally there was an opera cake which had tasteless strawberries on top and whilst looked beautiful, was overshadowed entirely by the sorbet which was great. Matching desert wine was good.
We paid quickly and left before coffee as it was now past ten and the restaurant was being reset around us for the next service. Overall rather disappointed, mainly with the service.

I have dined here several times and can honestly say that I and my guests have always enjoyed the excellent and beautifully cooked food. The choices and variety of courses are to be commended ,and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

We've eaten here before and been pleased, but the chef had an off night on this occasion. I had a 'posh' prawn cocktail, which was ok - it included guacamole, large prawns etc. However, the Malaysian laksa i had as a main course was pretty well tasteless, and nothing like ones i've had elsewhere, including in Malaysia itself. My wife had a main course that was incredibly salty, and we overheard another couple grumbling about how salty their main course was, having not been like that previously. So overall not a great experience on this occasion.

We were pleasantly surprised at how attentive the staff were, minor details such as carrying our drinks to the table and pulling out my chair did not go unnoticed.
The food was incredible it was full of flavour with generous portion sizes.
There were some excellent drink choices on the menu, especially the gin.
All round a lovely place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
