As usual excellent. Friendly staff happy to chat. Food was delicious. Started with an amuse boucle of butternut Thai soup. Iced water on the table and bread without having to ask. Both of our main courses were tasty and we'll presented

Lightly-curried cod fillet with tempura mussels, apple and sultanas form a delicious starter on The Jack in the Green menu, and can be followed by the ‘totally Devon option’ of tender slow-braised pork belly with star anise, ginger and rhubarb sauce. An exquisite 5-course tasting menu features a la carte options paired with harmonising wines, while a light bar menu includes comforting pies and pub classics.

Vegetarians at The Jack in the Green in Exeter can enjoy a creative veggie menu, and there’s also a carefully-considered children’s menu for little diners. Venture outdoors for sun-drenched al fresco dining, while the interior boasts 3 elegant dining rooms and a classically-styled bar.

We had a lovely lunch (party of 5). Great, timely service, fantastic food which was beautifully presented and a little different inclusive of creative vegetarian options which were delicious (if a little pricey). My only disappoint was that we had to leave in a bit of a rush due to a tight schedule so I didn't get time to sample the dessert I wanted to - but good reason to come back again in the future which we all agreed we would when next in the area. We would definitely recommend this charming restaurant.

We found the Jack a few years ago and despite thinking of looking for a different venue for our 'catch up' sessions (friend lives in South Molto ) we continue to return to the Jack - because the menu is so good. Our favourite starter is the black pudding and duck egg salad! Then we explore the other tempting dishes. Friendly unobstrusive service. I have no doubt we will back for more.
