Our first visit. Brilliant pub, highly recommend. We turned up late due to bad traffic. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Service was very prompt, and food arrived swiftly too. Great menu, lots of good dishes to choose from. All 3 of our party enjoyed their meals. Ingredients were of high quality, and dishes were creative and well executed. We will return and have already recommended the pub to others.

We were told this pub/restaurant had been going for 25 years or more you can see why great food great atmosphere attention to detail and none of this adding £3.50 for a bit of veg its all included. The staff are attentive and well trained and the wine list is extensive and has some lovely english wine. We liked it so much we went on two consecutive evenings

My wife and I were travelling home to Northamptonshire from South Devon when we arranged to meet friends from Dorset at The Jack In The Green for lunch, as we have done on two previous occasions. The Rockbeare location just off the M5 is an ideal stop-off for us and of a similar distance for our friends from Dorset. We enjoyed our visit very much, the food was well prepared and nicely presented, as always. Paul and Jo made us feel very welcome and the staff were polite and attentive. The Jack in The Green is highly recommended.

Lovely ambience, polite and helpful staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble, good food overall, but some disappointments....the chicken liver parfait was very runny, with huge pieces of over-toasted brioche, which rather put you off. (A firmer pate and smaller crispy pieces of toast would have been nicer I think). My husband’s steak was perfect and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The vegetables were attractive and crunchy- (I wish I’d had some instead of salad!) Beautiful chunky chips too. For pudding we had the passion fruit tart, which I’m sorry to say was very bland with soft pastry instead of crispy, so very disappointing! (I just ate the passion fruit sorbet, which was excellent.)

Could have done with getting the wine list earlier - had to ask. Excellent food. Only teeny grumble was the waiter put the lid back on the wine!

Lovely restaurant with a very cosy and relaxed feel. A bit disappointed with the service and the food overall considering the reviews and the rather pricey menu. Nice but overrated and we all found the food a little bland and nothing to shout about. I would go back for the place itself but the food was rather secondary and there are better places around for a much better price. I will say though that the pea and mint soup served in between courses was quite delicious! I would revisit but I feel that this place is living on its name and not the food.
