What to say! We made our reservation easily (for 2.15pm on a Sunday) and turned up on time to find the restaurant 1/3rd full...that itself looked ominous as most good pubs are busy on a Sunday lunchtime. What then followed was disappointing to say the least. First it took 20 minutes to get the drinks after ordering, but only after we'd asked where they were. In fact I had to show one of the waitresses on her Ipad that they had Aspalls cider on tap when she thought they only had bottles of Old Mount! We placed our orders for food to then be told there wasn't enough lamb. The food that came out was okay; 5 out of 10 but nothing more. For dessert they'd run out of chocolate brownies and then when it came to coffees we ordered two filter coffees from the menu, only to be told 5 minutes later than they didn't serve them so we had white americanos instead!. To add insult to injury they then charged for the filter coffee on the bill that was incorrect anyway and had to be sent back. So all in all not a good visit. The place looks like it needs a good spring clean too and the waiting staff some training and development. There were too many of them who didn't know the basics and there was also a distinct lack of management. We won't be back.

This was our 3rd Visit for Sunday Lunch, the service was friendly, the roast beef was really tender and tasty, average size portions, cauliflower cheese was lovely this time, previously it was undercooked and not cheesy at all, would definitely return again, lovely atmosphere.

Booked online with Bookatable, easy process and confirmed swiftly. On arrival we mistakenly waited at the check in counter, not realising at the time the venue was a hotel also! We were directed to the dining area where we were seated quickly by courteous friendly staff. Both ordered the beef Sunday roast which was lovely and good portion size accompanied by cauliflower cheese ordered as a side order. Sticky toffee pudding and bourbon ice cream was sublime my friend ordered creme brûlée which was equally tasty. We decided to have coffee near the fire as we found the seating area around the bar relatively colder than the dining area. A most agreeable location to meet a good friend for a catch up over a tasty Sunday lunch.

Was lovely meal. Difficult to get hold of staff as so busy! But not bad service.

I use the restaurant frequently to meet friends. The staff are always exceptionally polite friendly and professional. The menu caters for all tastes, changes with the seasons and the food is consistently well cooked and presented.
