We booked a New Years day dinner thinking it as a treat an experience for ourselves. It was a set menu of 3 choices per course at £35 a head. The menu description of each item sounded really top notch but I’m afraid the food did not deliver the same description. Prawn and shrimp marie rose was as basic as any child could create. Chicken with black pudding and accompanying vegs? There was no black pudding to be found and the vegs were dried out to nothingness. Whisk(e)y Cranachan with cherry cheesecake and cherry sorbet! I was still chewing the cranachan in the taxi home and the sorbet tasted very watery and just not right. The food was as you would expect for a party night when there are about 200 guests, but for an alleged fine dining experience, this did not tick the box. Service was fairly good and the restaurant was clean and well set.
