Enclosed by the beautiful Essex countryside, The Greyhound - Brentwood showcases a quintessential British pastoral pub through its dark, rich oak beams, hearth and extensive pretty gardens. The outdoor seating can be used to enjoy the accomplished British pub menu and sleek white exterior.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Greyhound menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Greyhound ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
The Greyhound is just 6 minutes’ driving from Brentwood.

For many years I’ve always loved the character of this restaurant. Staff are friendly. However on this visit, the smell coming from the disabled toilet was overwhelming into the restaurant area. When the door was closed the smell disappeared, but the door kept having to be closed by diners eating nearby. This clearly needs addressing.

Lovely venue, smashing staff, a great menu & lovely grub.
Half our party were unexpectedly delayed by traffic but the staff were very accommodating with our booking time. We will return. Highly recommended.

Nice friendly pub/ restaurant have been 3 times before and each time we have enjoyed our meal good varied menu lots of choice.
Staff really friendly too and know the menu if you have any questions, service very good no long waits either.
My only small gripe is we have sat in the same corner twice and it's quite chilly so when we go back hopefully we won't sit in the same place !

I love the ambience. Open fires. Food was good, slightly cold.
My only comment was the waitresses referring to us as luvies and darling. Not appropriate, rather annoying.

Atmosphere Welcome Food and Service was excellent and we , a party of 4, had a good time. Good value too. Being a Friday three of our party chose traditionally battered fish and chips . Fish was great and batter crisp and definitely recommended.

This pub is in a lovely setting but the food was very disappointing. My sister lives in Barcelona so really fancied a nice roast dinner as that isn't something she can get in a restaurant over there. The 'roast' potatoes were bland sliced new potatoes and there were no pigs in blankets. She said it was the worst roast dinner she had ever eaten. I had a pie that was full of air and hardly any filling.
Overall a very disappointing dining experience.
The waitresses and bar staff were lovely and very friendly- but clearly rushed off their feet as our dinner plates were left in front of us for an hour after we'd finished. Other diners were clearing their tables themselves!

Warm welcome, good food, perhaps just a little slow waiting for food to arrive

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the greyhound, I was slightly concerned from some reviews I had read, but from the moment we arrived we were well looked after and as the food arrived it was well cooked and really tasty. Looking forward to a return visit.

Extremely disapointed. My husband and I both ordered Pizza. How could you possibly go wrong. I had the ham and pineapple and my husband had the chicken and mushroom. There was NO pineapple on mine and a few scraps of ham. It was so burnt around the edges that they had cut them of!! The same could be said for my husbands hardly any chicken and very little mushrooms. We had to ask for our chips as they had clearly forgot to serve them with our pizza. The drink order was wrong and the service very poor. We will definately NOT be returning.
We were dining with friends and did not want to make a fuss in their company.
