Enjoyable experience with good food and very suitable for children. Good ambience. The service was good but could have been faster however the overall experience was most enjoyable.

Incorporating a medieval timbered building and an outdoor dining area, The Green Man – Trumpington is a restored village pub serving a menu of delicious & unfussy British food. With vaulted ceilings, mismatched furniture & roaring fireplaces, the bar & restaurant offer plenty of cosy nooks for wholesome meals on cold days.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Green Man menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means the The Green Man – Trumpington cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

The Green Man in Trumpington is a 7-minute drive from Cambridge Rail Station.

I took a pair of work colleagues to an "after event" dinner. The menu, atmosphere and service were all fine.

My second visit. Not spectacular....was actually disapointed with meals. Service was painfully slow..We were a party of 5 and all felt there needed more feet on the floor. we asked what the soup of the day was.....ummmmmm I will have to go check!!!
A pity because it is a really nice space and could be really amazing. wont be spending my hard earned pounds there again.

A very enjoyable lunch. We chose:
Salmon, Cod and Steak Pie. All were very tasty as seen by our clean plates

This occasion was one of our Managers was retiring so a small close gathering of fellow Managers & head of service came. we were greeted with great courtesy & our table was reserved & ready for us. Although we had booked for seven but in fact there was only six of us but this was not an issue at all. we were served with drinks almost immediately & allowed time to choose our individual meal choices. We can all say the service was great throughout, the food was excellent & we had a very nice time. the restaurant was nice & comfortable & for me personally it looked very nice (its been about 20 years since I was last in there, so a lot of nice changes).

Our group came for a Christmas meal last year & they thoroughly enjoyed it (sadly I was not well on the day so could not come) this was why we chose to come last Friday. We are thinking of coming again this year so I hope to book up in the next few days to ensure we get a table (we did notice your Christmas advertising on our was out) which is why I have been prompted to do so, just waiting for numbers & date/time to be agreed.

For me personally I now have another place to take my wife to for a nice relaxing meal, unfortunately I am limited to what I can eat, but I did see about 3 things on the menu that I can have & after speaking with the staff there they can tweak certain dishes for me which will give me more choice. So many restaurants will not do this, & being a retired chef & restaurateur I struggle to understand why

Thank you once again & look forward to visiting again either with a works visit or personal one, please pass on our thanks to all your staff including those behind the scenes

    With kind regards Tony Pillow

Met up with 4 friends for Sunday lunch, the restaurant is fine with the doors open it was very cool on such a hot day. They had run out of olives and vanilla ice cream, before we even started. 4 of us opted for Sunday roast 1 chicken, 1 beef and 2 lamb, unfortunately the lamb was very chewy and not good at all, don't know how that's possible with lamb! The rest of the food was very nice, steak and fish good, including the deserts. Would recommend but not for a roast dinner. Thought it was expensive for a pub lunch that wasn't great.

Very good meal. The Green Man has certainly improved lately. The waiting staff were very attentive and really no grumbles at all.

We were told when we arrived, that they had no record of my booking, and that it was a frequent problem. Good job they had a spare table for us, but not very helpful.

We did enjoy our food, although the vegetables were dry, and the desert took ages to arrive. However, a free cup of coffee was given after the helpful waitress checked with her manager.
