Really great time, tasting menu was well thought out and flavours beautifully balanced. Just some small touches would lift Leicesters to a serious contender. Particular favourites were the Sea Bass and the Pumpkin Cheesecake. Room for improvement on the service. Staff were very friendly but we had to ask to order drinks, there was little or no explanation of the dishes and we were left on our own in the restaurant once our dessert had been served. Overall though, a lovely experience and with a little polish, this could be an absolute gem.

We booked this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. The reviews were very good, even though they had a few bad ones more recently and we made the mistake of not considering the more recent ones. This restaurant is located in a beautiful 16th century building. On arrival and throughout the evening the staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive, however, this is where the positives end. The dishes we tried were very disappointing. We chose the wild rabbit and the risotto as a starter and they were bland, nothing that an average cook couldn't conjure up. My choice of main and a desert had run out, which at this stage was ok because there were other dishes that we were happy to chose. For the main courses we chose the sea bass, which I was very happy with, and the rib-eye steak which was ordered medium rare, and it came back one half medium and the other well done, it wasn't even cooked evenly and there was far too much gristle, basically it was a poor piece of stake, very disappointing. The desserts were shockingly bad, dry, tasteless, unbelievably bad, genuinely we could not believe deserts could possibly be so tasteless and so below par. So no, we wont come back again, which is a shame for the staff because they were great. But whoever the head chef is please hand over to someone else. Harsh, you may think, but true.

Food is really something special, great atmosphere. Been twice and both times was superb! Can't wait to go again.

Went for a birthday dinner and enjoyed the food and ambience of the restaurant. Wasn't too expensive. Everything laid before us was first class and the little starter dishes were a delightful surprise and tasted delicious. Service was good to excellent.

Wonderful Sunday lunch at Leicester's. I have been coming here for many years and this was one of my best experiences

Overall a slightly disappointing dining experience relative to what I had been expecting. Menu choices were either safe, or where adventurous lacking in finesse in execution if my experience is any guide. Bread - too cakey and crumbly, but both choices of butter were good (salted, smoked beetroot). You need to find another baker. Heritage tomatoes with tomato sorbet - this was excellent Roasted salmon - the salmon was well cooked, but the chorizo garnish overwhelmed all the other flavours, particularly the vegetables. The triple cooked chips were a disappointment, flabby rather than properly crisp and light. Service - good, but staff don't need to keep asking if there is anything more I need

Fantastic experience from amazing food to very accommodating staff. Cannot be faulted. Excellent value for money.

This is a gem of a restaurant just outside Bridgend. The table service for the Sunday lunch was professional and unhurried. The meal was cooked and presented to a high standard. The tastes were much to our liking. Certainly worth paying just a little extra for this quality restaurant.

Extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive staff. Very nice atmosphere. Food unusual but very tasty if a little on the pricey side. On the whole a very enjoyable evening.
