Overall a slightly disappointing dining experience relative to what I had been expecting. Menu choices were either safe, or where adventurous lacking in finesse in execution if my experience is any guide.
Bread - too cakey and crumbly, but both choices of butter were good (salted, smoked beetroot). You need to find another baker.
Heritage tomatoes with tomato sorbet - this was excellent
Roasted salmon - the salmon was well cooked, but the chorizo garnish overwhelmed all the other flavours, particularly the vegetables. The triple cooked chips were a disappointment, flabby rather than properly crisp and light.
Service - good, but staff don't need to keep asking if there is anything more I need

This is a gem of a restaurant just outside Bridgend.
The table service for the Sunday lunch was professional and unhurried.
The meal was cooked and presented to a high standard. The tastes were much to our liking.
Certainly worth paying just a little extra for this quality restaurant.

Extremely welcoming, friendly and attentive staff. Very nice atmosphere. Food unusual but very tasty if a little on the pricey side. On the whole a very enjoyable evening.

Can’t believe that this restaurant was on my doorstep! On arrival was welcomed very warmly. We visited mid week which worked well as it was for my wife’s 40th birthday. The restaurant was pretty much ours!! However the service was excellent and the food was also excellent. Large dining area with an open fire certainly added to the appeal. Earning me brownie points as my wife is partial to a period house. Certainly will visit again at some point. We had the market menu, three course meal with coffees for after. This plus the homage bread, Turkish delight and fudge for afters totally finished us off - in a good way. Professional through and through an made our day, especially when they plated the dessert for my wife with “Happy Birthday” in chocolate!! Thanks for a very memorable experience.

Staff and service was great cannot complain but the price for the valentines menu of £45pp was extortionate compared to what we had. All plates were lovely but not good enough or big enough for the price. Won't be coming back for that reason.. We weren't full when leaving.

We were disappointed with the steak and ale pie, the beef mince was dry and the pie was quite small. We all enjoyed the rhubarb and apple tart for dessert. The surroundings were very pleasant and the service was good. We were the only table occupied lunchtime which was a shame. My friends have said they will not visit again but I may do in the future and choose a different dish.
