Great and quick service, clean and fresh restaurant and the food was excellent, particularly the beetroot risotto, belly pork and marmite butter.

The setting was excellent. The staff were not obtrusive but were attentive. The food was excellent - innovative and extremely well designed and presented. The portions were a good size .
Really enjoyable and worth coming back to . Thanks

Very friendly staff, the interior has its own individual, comfortable style. Great service and amazing food. This was my second meal and both times were most enjoyable.

We went for lunch. Had the tempura purple sprouting to start which was disappointing. It was not tender as I would expect it to be, it was more like ordinary broccoli. The main course of Hake was very good, the fish was very fresh. The desert of goats cheese curd, fig & honeycomb was also very good. Overall the value was very good.

Every course was incredible (scallops to start, steak and pie for main course & crumble for dessert) and the service was exceptional. Would highly recommend and will be returning.

Initial reception was great. We sat in the bar and ordered wine and had a browse of the menu. Once at our table the waitress at first seemed efficient but as the evening went on it was clear that she was abrupt and not very friendly. We shared an scotch egg as an Amuse Bouche then went on to starters. Food was delicious,I had the duck and smoked yolk starter and pork mains, but the waitress tried to clear plates before we had finished. The same happened with the main course. The restaurant only served nine covers all evening so there was no pressure on the chef or the staff. It just seemed they wanted us to eat and run ,fast food style!! It really did spoil the enjoyment of seriously good food. Great building and lovely furnishings. This is the first time in many years that we haven't left a tip. Very disappointed that the service didn't match the standard of food .

First time here, it was my husband's birthday so thought we would try the taster menu. We booked a table for four and arrived at 8.10. After being shown our table we were left unattended for approx 45 minutes. One of our colleagues went to the bar to order some drinks. When the member of staff did eventually come to our table we asked why we hadn't been offered drinks to be told that they were understaffed. The 45 minute wait did sour our experience as you would expect first class service when you're spending £300 on a table of 4. The atmosphere and environmental was excellent and the food simply superb -however the lack of staff and waiting 45 minutes to be served did spoil what would have been a perfect evening.

Lovely historic building, very pleasant staff and dealt well with food allergy. Service went a bit astray to start with but then it was sorted and everything was good from that point forward.

We had the dining room to ourself however that did not stop our enjoyment of the food
Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu,he had an excellent understanding of all that was on offer so full marks to him
Our only disappointment was the coffee which we took in the lounge it was well served with an ample supply for just the two of us but it lacked any flavour or strength
Finally I would suggest that the gents toilet needs a facelift
