    Nice but not wow . we had a nice evening however would, say it could be so much more they clearly need to invest in a good front of blue manager particularly if they want to capitalise o the Great British Menu. Food was nice setting is lovely however they lack direction and attention to detail however all the ingredients are there

    The food here was absolutely phenomenal! By far the best meal both my partner and I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Both the Welsh lamb and free range pork dishes were outstanding! Staff were friendly and at the end of the meal brought out a birthday card and free glass of champagne for my partner who was celebrating his 30th! Faultless experience all round.

    First visit since it changed ownership, food was still very good but i felt that there was limited options on the SET Menu, and did not cater for all tastes, pushing you towards the A LA CARTE menu which was obviously more expensive, this could possibly lose custom in the months to come as lots of lunch time diners would go else where A la carte in the evening is fine but too expensive lunch time £60 for two

    This was our first time at The Great House for quite a few years and we were very impressed, both with the food, the relaxed service, and the overall feel of the restaurant. All the dishes were superbly cooked and presented. Even the set lunch menu, with a choice of 3 starters, mains and deserts really made it difficult to choose because all the dishes were equally tempting.
    The Hake with buttermilk sauce, fennel and green beans was as good as any fish dish I have had, both in this country and in France,but it would be wrong to single out just one dish, they were all very good indeed.
    The 3 course set lunch represents great value at £22, but when we return, which we will as soon as possible, we will be also trying the tasting menu and a la carte.

    Overall, a superb dining experience. Great food and very good value means the Great House is hard to beat.

    Excellent night. The hake main course was probably the highlight, but every dish was beautifully presented, well balanced and, most importantly, very tasty. My wife and I don't usually have desserts, but they were very tempting and didn't disappoint. The wine was excellent, as were the vodka and gin apperitifs. And the service was both polite and competent. All the staff seemed well trained and looked smart and attentive, without being intrusive.

    The meal was delicious and very good value for money, in particular the dessert (panacotta) which worked superbly. The service was excellent and although the starters took some time to arrive, the entire experience was appreciated and warm.

    You could make things easier for yourselves at the end; it isn't ideal to have to go to the bar to pay by card, and when I wanted to add a tip, I was told that the only way to do it by card was to do cashback; this wasn't a problem, but it was a little peculiar to have the bar manager hand me the cash, only for me to pass it to the waiters!
