We went for the set menu at lunchtime. Excellent food and service in a relaxing ambience. The lobster omelette was sublime! The only jarring note were the bizarre lights like pink Christmas decorations in an otherwise treaditional decor.

What a complete delight! ....here is an understated oasis of calm and quiet pleasure.
I booked the table for a birthday celebration. The food was perfect and delightful but it was the quality and style of the service that made it all so memorable.
Out of the dishes we ate, the winners were the Smoked Eel Risotto to start and the Pigeon main course (though the roast beef was divine) and the Fig trifle for dessert.
We've ben talking about I for days ... just fab!
If time and circumstance permits, take a look at the private garden at the rear of the hotel.

We had pre-dinner drinks at the terrace over looing the beautifully maintained garden. It was very relaxing. We then moved to the restaurant and had a wonderful three course dinner. Everything was beautifully done. Excellent food and great services. Definitely will go there again.

The service and food is outstanding, the decor, posh and classic. Every plate is composed with balance in taste and visual impression. Do not skip dessert as they are small masterpieces. In terms of value for money the food is worth every penny, but having the cheapest glass of wine; a Sauvignon Blanc for 11GBP. Is a ripoff in quality/price.

The restaurant is elegant and the tables well-spaced so noise level is pleasantly low. The service and food can't be faulted. Everything we ordered was excellent in both presentation and taste, but the strawberry mousse was decidedly memorable. It was a special occaision and the Goring measured up with aplomb.
