Exquisite service, delicious food, great wine selection. Lamb and the Halibut were wonderful. Do not miss the Eton Mess and the trifle. Gracious English Dining. A definite must on a visit to London.

Lovely venue - bright and welcoming; not sure about lighting in dining room.
Arrived early, so had drink in the bar before our meal - nibbles very welcome and tasty.
Clearly felt we were on a meal deal as we got a card, rather than the clearly more extensive menu, but not really an issue. Order taken quickly, but took a while for food to arrive. Drinks, and champagne in particular, very nice. Breads lovely - we could have just eaten our way through the basket.
Clearly a change-over of staff as our waiter changed from male to female, but not a problem. Staff did much rushing about - they clearly work hard. Nice uniforms, especially in bar.
Starters - I had mackerel soup - little bit salty, but tasty. Mains of lobster omelette - lovely, but got a bit samey after serval mouthfuls; Caesar salad difficult to eat until tipped out; would have liked more sauce; dessert - lemon thing was lovely.
It was our wedding anniversary, and 'congratulations' cake was greatly appreciated.
Overall a treat for us, with great food and lovely staff.
    We plan to return.

Started with drinks in the bar, very surprised that painting was going on at the same time literally a few feet away, plus of course the smell !

Have been using the restaurant & hotel for the past 30 years for both business & pleasure & for the first time was disappointed.
Lamb was underdone & fatty.I noticed that others in my party left large part of portions on their plates. Also not clear what actually came with it.

Everything was really fine, as usual, but one thing disturbed me a bit. I ordered on glas of the excellent Bollinger Champagne (I had lunch in the dining room) but the waiter did not fill the glass to the "waist" of the Champagne glass, but only a bit under.
This was in stark contrast to my visit a few days earlier (for evening drinks), when the glass (of the same Champagne) was generously and correctly filled up.
I think the waiters at The Goring are all very attentive and kind, but this single event (lunchtime) was unexpected. I did not feel like "complaining" at that time (maybe I should have...), so I make this note here instead. Maybe a petty thing - but at The Goring we expect only the best!!
The food at my lunch was, as usual, fantastic!
I will be back in July (with my wife) and we will certainly "test" the Champagne again!
    Thank you.
