What better way to enjoy a Sunday than in a cosy country pub with a great selection of British roasts starting from £12.50 – served all day and evening on Sundays using the freshest seasonal ingredients.
With a sizeable beer garden for al fresco dining on sunny days, The Golden Heart in Winterbourne Down is a restored village pub & restaurant serving a seasonal menu of modern British cuisine. With plenty of soft armchairs and ottomans by the fireplace inside, and a restaurant furnished with rustic tables and chairs upholstered in brocade, it is an idyllic rural retreat.
Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Golden Heart menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.
A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Golden Heart cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.
The Golden Heart in Bristol is an 8-minute drive from Bristol Parkway Rail Station.

I've eaten here before and the food was great, but this time we had a very long wait for our meal and when it finally arrived it was Cold, very disappointing. We complained and our bill was ammended but ruined our night so won't be returning.

I booked your restaurant for a midday meal for 4 persons (Office Lunch) for Friday 18th at 1.00 p.m.. My secretary advised you of the individual orders of each person in advance. We arrived on time. We were surprised on seating to be advised that you had no trace of the orders but we had made a copy of the orders which we passed to your waitress. We finished our first course at 1.45 p.m. and finished the dessert course at nearly 3.00 p.m. I would add that the restaurant was only about 1/3rd full on arrival. We did not stop for coffees. Only one of the credit card machines was working. Subsequently I found that I had been charged for 8 desserts instead of 4 and this was rectified today with a cash refund of £16.00. Generally the food was acceptable but presentation could been better. .

I'd really liked the look of the Christmas menu which is splashed on the website. Booked our table and forwarded the menu on to others on the party. Unfortunately I'd missed that they need to be told at the time of booking that you want that menu. So take heed to avoid disappointment! Good choice of non alcoholic beers/lager for the driver!
