What better way to enjoy a Sunday than in a cosy country pub with a great selection of British roasts starting from £12.50 – served all day and evening on Sundays using the freshest seasonal ingredients.
With a sizeable beer garden for al fresco dining on sunny days, The Golden Heart in Winterbourne Down is a restored village pub & restaurant serving a seasonal menu of modern British cuisine. With plenty of soft armchairs and ottomans by the fireplace inside, and a restaurant furnished with rustic tables and chairs upholstered in brocade, it is an idyllic rural retreat.
Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Golden Heart menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.
A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Golden Heart cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.
The Golden Heart in Bristol is an 8-minute drive from Bristol Parkway Rail Station.

Good welcome from friendly bar staff. Welcome from restaurant staff good too. Staff were very friendly and had time to make us feel they were listening and joining in with us in a joke. Food serve to us was good quality and flavours were excellent. All round good, relaxing and enjoyable evening out. Thank you.

Food and service were fantastic, very friendly. We will certainly return. The wine was a bit prices compared to others, but overall we were most pleased with our first visit.

I was very impressed with the whole booking and meal. The staff were able to respond to my request of being in a quiet and light part of the room ( my father has vision problems), and kindly turned off the music as we were directly beneath a speaker. The meal was delicious, and the staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating.Would recommend to anyone most highly!

Excellent food as usual with good service. The duck salad and fish cakes are particular favourites with our group!

Nice welcome and attentive staff. My request for a table sited in an area away from drafts was accommodated and I particularly liked the overhead lighting which made it easy to read the menu and appreciate the look of the food. I thoroughly enjoyed the Beef Bourguignon main course and apple and blackberry pie dessert. The Pork Belly was also enjoyed, but other members of my party were critical of the Steak and Ale pie which didn't have much meat content, and the Sticky Chicken could have done with more sauce to combat the dryness of the chicken.
