Restaurant description

Behind its olive-green, market-style front, The Goat in Clapham hides a quirky little dining room, and serves time-honoured British pub fare with a modern twist. Home cooked roast dinners make up the traditional Sunday lunch menu, while international beers and house cocktails are served at the bar.

The Goat menu features classics such as ale-battered fish and triple-cooked chips, alongside the likes of pan-fried duck breast with summer greens, or the wild boar & chorizo burger in a brioche bun with slaw & fries. For dessert, tuck into warm chocolate brownie with hazelnut ice cream, or sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream.

An assortment of copper, oak and marble tables litter the dining room, overlooked by a host of eccentric, goat-themed artwork. Mismatched chairs add to the pub’s Alice-in-Wonderland-style quirks, along with oversized table lamps and blue and cream coloured banquettes.

Clapham Junction Rail Station is a 9-minute walk from The Goat in London, while Clapham Common is just a 5-minute walk away.

Was excellent - I’m a fussy eater but they catered to my needs with no problem and had a delicious dinner!

We went on a Friday evening and there was very loud music from the main bar which made it difficult to talk to each other. Weekdays might be different music-wise.

Unfortunately the service was slow and the food was cold. I came here a few months back when they launched the new menu and everything was very good. Not sure I'll be going back for food again after the latest experience. I'd taken a group of friends there and was let down!

Had a such a great time at The Goat! Any pub that offers Cards Against Humanity and Jenga is perfect for me. Had some beers i've not seen before too, nice to not see carling or stella for once. Had the Chicken Pie which I now understand why its award winning.

The food was good but the atmosphere was non-existent. They were persistent in having the main door open on a very cold rainy day in November! Go figure. As soon as we ordered we asked if we could change it and they said it was too late...
