From Marcus Wareing, Gilbert Scott London showcases fine British produce in the illustrious surrounds of the 19th-century St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The venue houses a spectacular grand dining room as well as an intimate cocktail bar.

Packed with rich British and European dishes, the Gilbert Scott menu begins with starters such as English tomatoes with feta & spearmint, and pressed chicken & truffle terrine with mushroom ketchup. Follow this with sea bass with nasturtium, olive and salted ricotta, or halibut with sweet corn and chorizo. From the grill, sample the 25-day dry-aged Chateaubriand, or pork chop with cabbage slaw & mustard.

George's Bar at The Gilbert Scott serves up creative drinks in show-stopping, 19th-century surroundings. World wines are joined by house cocktails, including the Blackberry and Basil Royale, the Rhubarb and Ginger Sour, and The Herbalist, comprising thyme-infused gin, green Chartreuse, elderflower, lime and absinthe.

A truly British institution in an iconic setting, Gilbert Scott restaurant sits yards from the platforms at King’s Cross Rail Station.

Appalling. Food was totally inedible. Pork was raw and cold and wilted greens cold.
    Staff inattentive

Food fine, if a little dull, no "wow" experience.
Service not the best - a little slow - tap water topping up my sparking - lack of attention.

Food great but massive potions. Staff helpful when we caught them but we weren’t fully served with various diff waiting staff.

The salmon starter with rosemary bread was absolutely divine. Lamb was perfectly cooking. Amazing meal, throughly enjoyed it. Staff so polite & attentive.

The service from arrival was poor. The Christmas jumpers really did not help the overall impression either. Very questionable decision at such an establishment. The staff were numerous and pleasant but just not attentive and did not seem to care or be well informed.
The wine pouring was particularly awful with a gadget to keep an opened bottle fresh that would have given most French people and anyone remotely interested in wine a mild if not full on heart attack. I won’t go into detail - try it and you’ll see.
The food was fine I guess - nothing extraordinary but to be honest we were so disappointed by the service at this stage that it would not have mattered if utopia in food form had descended from the heavens.
