Fine service with good reasonable festive menu.
Amount of wine was rather small at the price.

From Marcus Wareing, Gilbert Scott London showcases fine British produce in the illustrious surrounds of the 19th-century St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The venue houses a spectacular grand dining room as well as an intimate cocktail bar.

Packed with rich British and European dishes, the Gilbert Scott menu begins with starters such as Dorset crab with smoked almond and pink grapefruit, and pigeon with prune and pistachio terrine. Follow this with Cornish brill with scallop and crab ravioli, Yorkshire lamb with salsa verde, or mushroom Wellington with kale and mushroom velouté. From the grill, sample the 25-day dry-aged Chateaubriand with grilled bone marrow and chips.

The Gilbert Scott bar serves up creative drinks in show-stopping, 19th-century surroundings. World wines are joined by house cocktails, including the Blackberry and Basil Royale, the Rhubarb and Ginger Sour, and The Herbalist, comprising thyme-infused gin, green Chartreuse, elderflower, lime and absinthe.

A truly British institution in an iconic setting, Gilbert Scott restaurant sits yards from the platforms at King’s Cross Rail Station.

An exceptional meal in peaceful gracious surroundings with first class unobtrusive service. All in the party agreed it was one of the best dining experiences we had ever had in our lives.

Lovely setting, great food and a good meal deal, but beware of the extras - supplements for some of the items on the deal menu, plus vegetables sold separately at further cost.

The food was good but the drinks were too expensive, e.g gin and tonic £11.50 is a rip off!!

Very below average. Customer service was blunt and direct. Unwelcoming.

They put a £1 charity amount on the bill without telling us or explaining to us what it was. So rude and sneaky.

Very average experience overall, beautiful venue and handy location, fairly average food, wine selection good but top end pricing, overall an average experience and expensive for what you get. Not going to rush back.

On the positive, it's a lovely location with reasonable service. However, it's let down by poor execution from the kitchen. Croquettes were served still frozen in the centre. They were replaced by roast potatoes which were not cooked through and fridge-cold in middle. Gave up after that. The main meal of chicken covered in a breadcrumb topping tasted overwhelmingly of being cooked in overheated oil, which completely overpowered the other elements of the dish. Very, very disappointing especially when spending £75pp. If we weren't with family I would have had a strong conversation with the management - worst meal of 2017. Left feeling ripped off and disappointed. If you want to go to a Marcus Wareing restaurant, Treadwells is a far better bet, but after that experience I'd try somewhere else.

Food was excellent, fine dining with elegant dishes that perfectly complimented each other. Staff were highly professional, friendly and attentive.
