From Marcus Wareing, Gilbert Scott London showcases fine British produce in the illustrious surrounds of the 19th-century St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The venue houses a spectacular grand dining room as well as an intimate cocktail bar.
Packed with rich British and European dishes, the Gilbert Scott menu begins with starters such as Dorset crab with smoked almond and pink grapefruit, and pigeon with prune and pistachio terrine. Follow this with Cornish brill with scallop and crab ravioli, Yorkshire lamb with salsa verde, or mushroom Wellington with kale and mushroom velouté. From the grill, sample the 25-day dry-aged Chateaubriand with grilled bone marrow and chips.
The Gilbert Scott bar serves up creative drinks in show-stopping, 19th-century surroundings. World wines are joined by house cocktails, including the Blackberry and Basil Royale, the Rhubarb and Ginger Sour, and The Herbalist, comprising thyme-infused gin, green Chartreuse, elderflower, lime and absinthe.
A truly British institution in an iconic setting, Gilbert Scott restaurant sits yards from the platforms at King’s Cross Rail Station.

Very good experience,we were not rushed so could have a leisurely lunch. Food was very good, canapes were a nice touch and salmon pate was delicious.

A very happy and relaxing experience, with delightful staff who gave good service without being obtrusive. I enjoyed all the courses, as did the friend I was with, and the canapes were a delightful touch. I enjoyed all the food but perhaps the main was my favourite - humble belly of pork (as it was so considered in my youth) transformed into a beautifully cooked and delicious main course, the sauces and accompaniments were spot on. Enjoyed the glass of pleasantly dry champagne. So far have just had lunch here but can imagine it would be a good venue for breakfast, tea or dinner. Saw obvious business people dining there, so a very suitable venue (and especially with the transport links) for working lunches and entertaining clients. And of course the hotel itself is worth coming to in its own right. Many congratulations to all concerned using the very stylish setting to such good effect with the cuisine and service.
