From Marcus Wareing, Gilbert Scott London showcases fine British produce in the illustrious surrounds of the 19th-century St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The venue houses a spectacular grand dining room as well as an intimate cocktail bar.
Packed with rich British and European dishes, the Gilbert Scott menu begins with starters such as English tomatoes with feta & spearmint, and pressed chicken & truffle terrine with mushroom ketchup. Follow this with sea bass with nasturtium, olive and salted ricotta, or halibut with sweet corn and chorizo. From the grill, sample the 25-day dry-aged Chateaubriand, or pork chop with cabbage slaw & mustard.
George's Bar at The Gilbert Scott serves up creative drinks in show-stopping, 19th-century surroundings. World wines are joined by house cocktails, including the Blackberry and Basil Royale, the Rhubarb and Ginger Sour, and The Herbalist, comprising thyme-infused gin, green Chartreuse, elderflower, lime and absinthe.
A truly British institution in an iconic setting, Gilbert Scott restaurant sits yards from the platforms at King’s Cross Rail Station.

Main course was served cold !!! That was unacceptable - people who book aren’t aware of all the extra costs. There is not a choice of cocktail, which should also be pointed out.Service is quite slow and the wines are ridiculously expensive

Excellent throughout. I don't get to the Gilbert Scott that often, but it's always a pleasure. I asked about the vermouth in my Negroni and was shown the bottle and allowed to photograph it. Food, as ever, was excellent.

The restaurant is in the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel which is a fascinating building to see both inside and out even if you do not like that style of architecture. The dining room is a good size, not too large or too small and the tables are well spaced so other people's conversations could not be heard. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being obtrusive. Dishes were cleared in a timely manner and water glasses filled when needed. We did not feel at all hassled to eat and get out. The choice of food in the Star Deal was small but adequate and we all enjoyed our choices of starter, main meal and dessert. The meals were fresh, tasty, well-presented and the portion size was good. We all enjoyed our cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Food fine, if a little dull, no "wow" experience. Service not the best - a little slow - tap water topping up my sparking - lack of attention.
