Restaurant description

From Marcus Wareing, Gilbert Scott London showcases fine British produce in the illustrious surrounds of the 19th-century St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The venue houses a spectacular grand dining room as well as an intimate cocktail bar.

Packed with rich British and European dishes, the Gilbert Scott menu begins with starters such as English tomatoes with feta & spearmint, and pressed chicken & truffle terrine with mushroom ketchup. Follow this with sea bass with nasturtium, olive and salted ricotta, or halibut with sweet corn and chorizo. From the grill, sample the 25-day dry-aged Chateaubriand, or pork chop with cabbage slaw & mustard.

George's Bar at The Gilbert Scott serves up creative drinks in show-stopping, 19th-century surroundings. World wines are joined by house cocktails, including the Blackberry and Basil Royale, the Rhubarb and Ginger Sour, and The Herbalist, comprising thyme-infused gin, green Chartreuse, elderflower, lime and absinthe.

A truly British institution in an iconic setting, Gilbert Scott restaurant sits yards from the platforms at King’s Cross Rail Station.

Great venue and location, Friendly staff. HOWEVER the food was really disappointing though nothing special and steak was charcoal burnt on the outside and bread and butter pudding was also slightly burnt too !

The room felt really special, with a beautiful high ceiling and gold coving. The service was excellent and the food was very enjoyable. There were unusual choices on the menu, and we felt it was reasonably priced. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

We went for the £30 set menu however it’s not quite as it seems when you have to pay extra for veg and gravy! However that said the food, staff and service was excellent. It just a bit awkward when you’re trying to treat someone and realise that the set menu is not £30 really. : (

The staff here are attentive without being intrusive, helpful and very pleasant. Excellent service. The restaurant is a delight with original features, high ceilings and in keeping with the period. Even though busy there was no feeling of being overcrowded or overwhelmed by other diners' conversation, so it is well set out. I very much enjoyed all three courses, the bream was cooked to perfection and the bread and butter pudding excelled my expectations. The standard is very high and while there are the special touches of presentation that one expects from restaurants of this calibre it is not at all pretentious. Altogether a very relaxed and happy experience.

With regards to the Gilbert Scott restaurant the food, service, and the venue was excellent. It's amazing to think that a venue such as this exists on the hustle and bustle of the Euston Road in central London. Very classy.
