Restaurant description

From Marcus Wareing, Gilbert Scott London showcases fine British produce in the illustrious surrounds of the 19th-century St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The venue houses a spectacular grand dining room as well as an intimate cocktail bar.

Packed with rich British and European dishes, the Gilbert Scott menu begins with starters such as house-cured salmon with bergamot buttermilk and clementine, and slow-cooked chicken & Sauternes terrine with confit egg yolk, anchovy and capers.

Follow this with organic Cornish lamb saddle, served with roasted January King cabbage, hazelnuts and garlic cream, or roasted bass, with 'nduja, white onion and potato ragu and fennel salad. From the grill, sample the Aberdeen Angus Chateaubriand, or tandoori-spiced monkfish tail.

George's Bar at The Gilbert Scott serves up creative drinks in show-stopping, 19th-century surroundings. World wines are joined by house cocktails, including The Admiral's Choice, the Rhubarb and Ginger Sour, and The Herbalist, comprising thyme-infused gin, green Chartreuse, elderflower, lime and absinthe.

A truly British institution in an iconic setting, Gilbert Scott restaurant sits yards from the platforms at King’s Cross Rail Station.

Beautiful old building, opulent, grand, just stunning inside and outside! We went for dinner at Gilbert Scott, midweek. Service attentive, food beautifully arranged. A very "grand" dining experience. Good choice on the Set Menu we had on Wed 19th April We both had Fishcake with Slow Cooked Egg in Coconut sauce to start with. I had the Pork Chop with Spiced Prune, Cabbage for Main. Added a portion of Mash, which was delightfully creamy. Husband had the Sea Bream with Courgette & Crushed Jersey's. I had Carrot Cake with Frozen Yogurt for Dessert, my husband had Banana Caramel with Salted Peanut Butter. We enjoyed everything we had.The tables for two, where we sat, were set pretty close together, not a problem for us on this visit, but could imagine if certain diners wanted a quiet romantic meal and were seated to a "louder" table, it could impinge on enjoyment. Lovely evening, would visit again

The food was lovely but not amazing! The staff were quite disappointing as they weren't very welcoming and seemed quite unhappy. We were also placed on a really small table in the corner which didn't have much room.

Took my wife as a fifty something Birthday lunch treat. She is lactose intolerant so had main menu. Food was excellent, really delicious, can't fault it. Service was smiley, attentive, and included a thoughtful unplanned celebratory liquor and birthday candle with fruit. Really nice birthday experience. Would recommend!
