    Service was reasonable.
Food hot but expensive and not that flavoursome.
Cutlery and napkins in a pot on the table, not acceptable in relation to menu costs.

As always. A relaxed yet buzzing atmosphere. Excellent service by our lovely waitress. We all enjoyed our food but the menu choices are quite restricted. So pleased to have this lovely venue in our village.

Great Decor, ample parking. Friendly staff.
The bar staff were extremely slow with our drinks which we ordered before we were shown to our table, and all the other drinks. There was no cutlery on the table.
The pie I ordered was tasty, but too sweet, perhaps the vegetables were too caramelised.
    The serving staff were attentitive.

The menu is not huge and our elderly family member would have liked a choice of smaller sizes, she had food from the children’s menu in the end. Food took a while to arrive but was very good and we weren’t in a rush so we were happy to enjoy a bottle of wine whilst waiting. The atmosphere is excellent and the staff delightful although I got the wrong bill and had to query it, but they were very apologetic The prices are a little high compared with other pubs in the area but the surroundings made up for this. We would certainly visit again.

This was my 3rd visit here and to be honest, I find the menu a little strange. Sometimes I've struggled to find something I fancy but whatever I've chosen, it's always been lovely. On this visit, we had Sunday roast and it was delicious. The desserts were great too. I particularly liked the raspberry & white chocolate cake of the day. Service is really good - friendly, prompt but not too quick and accurate. The décor inside is perfect with some lovely furniture and there's a big car park. Will definitely go back again.

This was my second visit and both times service was slow. We had been seated for half an hour and no offer of drinks and so we went to the bar. It took an hour to order food and the team were not good at multi tasking and assess tables needs. Food was ok but no veggies with the pies except mash which was disappointing. I will probably not return

I like the George, and have eaten there many times, so this one is slightly tricky. I wonder if perhaps it has peaked and dropped back in terms of standards etc. Firstly the food was good, and the burger night deal is good value.

The negatives - only two front of house staff for the bar and the restaurant. As one of the regular staff was tied up on a long customer call there was no one to take the order so I had to head up to the (unoccupied) bar and place the order when he finished the call. Second, the Italian meat sharing plate has always been excellent, however this seems to be down to just two meats from the original 4 or 5.

Third, the coffee failed to turn up at all. The man serving (who knows us from previous visits) was very apologetic of course and made an adjustment to the bill to compensate, but the final gripe was the woman behind the bar informing me that she had been "told to apologise" for the failure to bring the coffee through. In my book that is not an apology at all - almost the opposite in fact.

It would be a pity if the George does let standards slide due to its dominant position in the village, since almost everyone has been delighted with the pub after the refurbishment a couple of years ago. For the record I would not let it put me off going - it might have been one of those off nights that any venue can have, and indeed I will be there again in a week with friends, it will be interesting to see how they shape up - I gather that there are some new items coming soon on the menu.

Fabulous Sunday roast - absolutely delicious! Booked in for my birthday family lunch on the back of this visit. Highly recommended for a Sunday roast.
