Found in Fordwich, the smallest town in Britain, The George & Dragon is a beautiful pub on the banks of the River Stour. Part of its community for centuries, the pub serves a wide range of classic dishes.

Favourites on The George & Dragon Canterbury menu include an 8oz steak burger with grilled bacon and Cheddar, and pan-fried sea bass fillets with mussels, clams and samphire in a white wine sauce with saffron potatoes. More Mediterranean flavours are added in the roasted red pepper, sun-dried tomato and cream cheese risotto, and linguini with chili and rocket pesto.

As well as fine wines and craft beers, Sunday roasts are a firm favourite, and a menu of ‘smaller things’ is available for children. With original wooden beams and cosy fireplaces, The George & Dragon has retained a rustic charm. Outside, a beer garden is on hand for the summer months.

Just 3 minutes’ drive from Sturry Train Station, The George and Dragon pub is 10 minutes from Canterbury city centre.

Lovely food and service great as always. A bit chilly where we sat but it was a cold night!

First thing is there is ample parking, secondly there was a friendly welcome, not the normal standing around trying to find someone to help you, which happens at a lot of restaurants, and thirdly the service and the food were exceptional, the chicken/bacon/mushroom pie was perfect, and the chicken grave was good enough to have on its own. My wife had the tyriaki salmon which I am reliably informed was simply wonderful. There is plenty of room to eat as the tables are nicely spaced apart so no banging chairs with the people sitting behind you. We will be visiting again as the George and Dragon is a stunning pub in a beautiful location, with excellent food and service.

Just a light lunch with some friends. Restaurant area looked lovely with all tables laid ready for Christmas meals. Meals were great, as was the service. Very pleasant environment. Large car park here is always a bonus.
