Eating out for vegetarians and vegans can be limited to salads and carb-filled sides, however at The Gate Islington, there are no sad salads, but vibrant and fresh options, packed with vegetables, gluten-free ingredients and healthier choices. The Gate also aims to dish up sustainably sourced produce to fit each store’s needs.
The Gate menu features meat-free starters like the couscous and feta fritters or the tropical raw Asian salad with spicy Thai cashew dressing. Onto mains, munch on veggie versions of classics like the aubergine teriyaki, which is finished with a mango and pickled ginger salsa or a tofu green Thai curry.
The Gate’s interior is modern but retains some of the building’s older characteristics, with the wooden-panelled bar making for a central feature in the restaurant. Dine at the counter or around the widely-spaced tables.
Located just 4 minutes from Angel Station, visit The Gate in Islington London for a varied menu of plant-based meals tailored to what the community loves.

I very much enjoyed my food, a starter of beetroot and avocado and the main Thai curry. Both were very tasty. However my wife’s main course which was the tagine contained far too much coriander..Indeed the balance of herbs to cous cous was wrong and spoiled the main course. The chocolate brownie which followed though was beautiful.
