Restaurant description

A 2 AA Rosette-winning restaurant perched on Eastbourne’s picturesque seafront, The Garden Restaurant serves impeccable British cuisine. From the regal dining room, guests can enjoy stunning views over the sea, and the cliffs at Beachy Head.

Sourcing supreme produce from Sussex farms and crafted under the watchful eye of executive chef Keith Mitchell, favourites from the Garden Restaurant menu include chicken supreme with truffled potatoes, or chicken, leek and bacon puff pastry pie. Glide across the Great Hall to the Grand’s cocktail lounge, and enjoy a high-end selection of pre or post-dinner drinks.

Dominating the shoreline, the spectacular Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is a luxury 5-star setting, and the restaurant’s lavish drapes, plush furnishings and high ceilings perfectly suit the majestic atmosphere.

The Garden Restaurant enjoys praise in a variety of culinary guides, including Square Meal. A landmark destination in this iconic seaside town, The Grand Hotel sits 4 minutes’ drive from Eastbourne Rail Station.

We love the venue. The staff are great. But we thought the meal, for what we had was over priced. As was the wine bearing in mind the contents of each glass. Furthermore, we had expected the staff to be wearing masks. We will be back.

Very enjoyable. All staff attentive and polite. made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. Loved the large comfortable dining chairs and generally the relaxed atmosphere in the dining room. (however it was not overly busy during the time our visit). My wife and I had the roast beef and it was cooked perfectly to our individual liking. The yorkshire puddings could have been better however.

We have eaten in the restaurant before and as expected the service was friendly, efficient and quick although we were in no way hurried. The menu was a little restrictive on the main courses but the starters were very good. I was a little surprised that we were unable to get a pink gin and tonic although a rhubarb one was offered as an alternative. On the whole a pleasant evening. Breakfast, as always, was excellent!!

A very impressive dining room. The dinner was good, as we would expect. A small criticism is that my starter was too cold and would have been tastier if it had been taken out of the fridge earlier. We also had breakfast there on three mornings and it was always good.
