What better way to enjoy a Sunday than in a cosy country pub with a great selection of British roasts starting from £13.95 – served all day and evening on Sundays using the freshest seasonal ingredients.
With a large al fresco dining area and a spacious car park, The Fox – Harpenden is a refurbished country-style pub serving modern British dishes. Inside, leather armchairs, ethnic ornaments and walls painted in rich purples & oranges make this a cosy space to enjoy a traditional Sunday roast or a pint of refreshing beer.
With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Fox menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.
The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Fox bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.
The Fox – Harpenden is a 7-minute drive from Harpenden Rail Station.

The decor and atmosphere was fabulous. Overall the food was good but in some cases disappointing. The twice cooked chips were awful - some over cooked, some not cooked but none were crispy. The warm chocolate fondant was cold and stodgy - again disappointing. Staff were pleasant but completely uninterested in hearing or acting on our feedback about the food.

I really enjoyed my evening and thought that the food was excellent. The two people I was dining with weren't quite so impressed - particularly by the presentation of the mini treacle tart which came out on a saucer. The service for drinks and replacement of our mini puddings was very slow - so slow with the puddings that we cancelled them in the end as we had all finished our cool coffee (not piping hot)

It was very nice - couldn't fault the food although we did have to ask for our coffee after our meal. We had ordered it but had to ask for it a good 15 minutes later - overall highly recommended.

Eaten here several times, never disappointed. Good food, great atmosphere, nice friendly staff. Took my daughter for a birthday lunch on 15th May, usually eat out here for dinner. Although busy didn't have to wait, we had the fish cakes which were delicious. Daughters 1st visit but she said she will defiantly eat at the fox again.

Went for Mother's Day very disappointed with food .... We didn't eat anything after waiting an hour for food 3 of us ordered roast beef it was a joke to be honest it was cold & two bits of fatty overdone beef costing £14:95 we all said it was unacceptable. They said we didn't have to pay for any food which we thought was a bit of a joke as all we had was two rounds of bread ! We were offered another main course but after waiting over an hour declined so paid for drinks and left feeling hungry it ruined my mothers day ????
