6 excellent meals and one very disappointing one

The steak pie contained very little of anything. The dish was nearly empty once you removed the pastry lid.

This was replaced, the replacement took a long time but was very good.

Overlooking the pretty Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, The Fox & Anchor – Wolverhampton dates back to the 18th century, and serves vintage British pub cuisine in a beautiful countryside location. The seasonally-prepared food can be savoured from the warm hearth-fire in winter or the al fresco beer garden in summer.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Fox & Anchor menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Fox & Anchor ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Fox & Anchor is merely 13 minutes’ drive from central Wolverhampton.

We had a great time, the food was lovely, the portion sizes very good which is important when there are men in the group they like to leave happy. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, and the ladies toilets were clean, fresh and beautifully decorated we really liked them.As for the menu there was a very good selection as i don,t eat meat but i do eat fish i was surprised there was a lot to choose from. They have a offer on for the weekend 2 courses and drinks for £21 this is just right for a nice meal. The waiter did his job very well so overall we had a great time thank you The Fox and Anchor

The attitude of the management is inconsistent, there is a very anti family atmosphere, the food is overpriced for the quality & quantity. We have visited 3 times and had complaint with the food each time, on one occasion the meal had to be sent back as it was burnt. Any complaint is met with the accusation of being "aggressive" by the management

We visited the Anchor for a meal on Saturday night and had the special Mothers Day weekend menu, 3 courses for £20.99. Food was great, good portions and very tasty. The raspberry milkshake cheesecake waa particularly memorable. The waiter waa veey attentive despite how busy they were, and the service was excellent. Great meal, very good value in cosy and comfortable surroundings.
