Restaurant description

Originally a quaint farmhouse, the The Fowlers Farm still values its pastoral heritage and delivers traditional British food, with oaken beams and a countryside situation. The 500-year-old building boasts a cosy hearth and an al fresco beer garden with eye-catching views of the surrounding country.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Fowlers Farm menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Fowlers Farm ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Fowlers Farm is only a 15-minute walk from Braintree Freeport Train Station, or a 5-minute drive into the town centre.

We (six this time) enjoy Fowlers rib eye steak along with the trimmings. One of the best in the area. However, the parking area suffers from severe flooding - this needs sorting!

Sharing starter was yummy. Salmon in main course was very greasy, but ok. Service was first class with friendly staff. Lovely ambience in restaurant itself. Lots of parking.
