Once again for Sunday Lunch Roasting Joint, but with someone who had not been before.
Service rather slow - not enough staff on duty?
My friend, who had been to Foodworks before but not for Sunday Lunch, considered this meal good but not very good.

The Foodworks Restaurant is the AA Rosette-awarded eatery of the 4-star Lancaster House Hotel, offering a fantastic blend of traditional and contemporary recipes. Leading on from the hotel lounge with its inviting open fires, the restaurant offers a chic dining setting that is children-friendly.

Head Chef Damien Ng showcases the very best in Lancashire produce on the Foodworks Restaurant menu, and adds inventive tweaks to traditional local recipes. The fish and chips are coated in Lancaster Brewery blonde beer batter, while a portobello mushroom stack has perfectly matured Lancashire cheese combined with broccoli pesto. There is also an extensive children's menu with numerous healthy options.

Desserts at The Foodworks Restaurant Lancaster are wonderfully decadent, and continue the local theme: ice cream comes from Wallings of Cockerham, there is homemade Lancashire ginger parkin with rich toffee sauce, and also a cheeseboard of local varieties to choose from, as well as a large wine list.

Combining style with reassuring tradition, The Foodworks Restaurant is adjacent to Lancaster University, and a 19-minute drive from Lancaster Rail Station.

The food was delicious, it arrived by very attentive staff, it was well presented and a good portion size.We had the joint platter which was lovely and warm bread accompanied it. the steak burger was extremely tasty and the fish and chips was lovely. Desserts were really nice and the ice cream flavours were unique and devine. Breakfast, superb selection and lovely to be able to order freshly prepared eggs, two choices of sausage (Cumberland and Lancashire) both meaty and tasty.

Good food and good value. Friendly service. Pianist adds great ambience. Order a bottle of Sandeman's port and enjoy with the (local) cheese board.

We had dinner on Friday night which was excellent, however Saturday night didn’t go quite as well.
We had booked your 8 course taster menu (not the wedding taster).
It started off great, then we didn’t get the potted shrimp course and was not offered anything in place of this course.
We did get a free drink, but that is not quite the taster menu we were looking forward to.
We then sat for about half an hour, I had to ask a member of staff when the next course was going to arrive. So we were very disappointed overall on the Saturday night.
They could obviously not cope with the dining room and having a function on at the same time.
Although I did pay my bill on checkout, I did feel cheated out of the £90 we paid for our 2 meals.

Really beautiful music played on piano. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant.
The food was all amazing, especially my risotto. Only thing I could criticise is the fact the the steak was £29. Although it was a good cut, the portion unfortunately was not wort that amount. Waitress was lovely!

There was a great wine list for all tastes and budgets.
