Excellent service, lovely food, perfect evening for date night!
It was a little too packed but it was fine, I reserved a table and we got seated very quick!

A haven of greenery in Monument, The Folly Bar is a botanically-themed restaurant and bar from restaurateurs Drake and Morgan. Modern European dishes partner exciting cocktails at this quirky setting, characterised by giant Norwegian spruce trees.

A kaleidoscopic menu at The Folly Bar ranges from British classic beer-battered fish and chips, to prawn lollipops and a wagyu burger with blue cheese. Succulent steaks are served with chips, watercress and a choice of sauce, while a breakfast and brunch menu offers a variety of options from around the world.

Tree trunks run the length of the basement and up into the main bar at The Folly Bar in London, accompanying plant-pot lampshades and a beehive-inspired bar. Drinks range from hearty ales to fairytale-inspired cocktails, while the ‘potting shed’ deli offers delights from Borough market.

The Folly Bar Gracechurch Street is just a minute’s walk from Monument Station, and runs frequent cocktail and flambé classes.

Food was good, service was OK - some staff seemed over worked whilst others stood around. One had no idea what was going on with desserts and got all our orders wrong. It was a hot day and seemed to be limited air con.

We waited 10 mins to order our drinks, probably would of been waiting longer if I had not called the Waiter over to us. By this time we were ready to order food. We then waited another 15 mins, still no drinks.. We asked a lady at the bar how long they would be and she told us "the bar was busy" and they "were on their way". Shortly after this, a waiter from the kitchen brought over ONE portion of chips randomly. We were confused as to why a pot of chips had been brought out before any of our food, or even our drinks? Another 10 mins later our drinks arrived and we asked how long the food was going to be (we was on a lunch break and only have an hour). Over 40 mins later, our food arrived. The quality is always okay, however i was shocked that some of the dishes were cold.. Considering we had to wait so long, I would of assumed the food would of been hot. This made me question if our dishes had been sitting there for a while?

The venue was busy, but not over packed. I would reccomend that more staff members are hired and drop the snooty lady at the bar. She wasn't in a Waiters uniform, so i assume she is some sort of management? Which made it even worse.

Our waiter was very apologetic for the wait and the Manager granted us a good discount off the food bill and a glass of prosecco each. It was also my birthday lunch, so we were given a desert on the house. This was very thoughtful and impressed us that this sort of action had been taken to make up for the terrible service.

We got seated in front of the door and received a draft every time someone came in. Our order was taken promptly and the chicken arrived for my friend very quickly, we then waited almost 10 min for my salad. By then the chicken was getting cold. When my quinoa salad arrived, it was less than exciting. Overall, not a great dining experience!

I had a business meeting which started at 10am and this was followed by lunch. The environment is conducive to a business meeting and staff are very helpful and professional.

I booked for Sunday Brunch and was very disappointed as the web-site looked very nice. The bar is large and nicely decorated with special touches like hot water bottles in case of a draft. The food was basic and quite cold by the time it reached us.

However, the service was dreadful. We had to ask to be served and then when the dishes came we then had to ask for cutlery and napkins ( not once but for both courses). The waitress also looked puzzled when we asked if we could have knives and forks as if it was a strange request. Given this I refused to pay the already included 12.5% service charge. This was also an ordeal as they had to find the Manager to deduct the s/c from the bill.
