Restaurant description
Perched on the edge of the lush Riverside Park in Glenrothes, The Fettykil Fox has classic brick Victorian furnishings, including a cosy hearth-fire. Its seasonal British pub cuisine can also be enjoyed from the pretty beer garden, with the outdoor views of the park and the nearby River Leven.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Fettykil Fox menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Fettykil Fox ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
The Fettykil Fox is situated only 9 minutes’ drive from Markinch Train Station and is 25 minutes to walk to central Glenrothes.

Booked but when arrived for a celebratory meal our table was not available so we were put in another section near the bar. Waitress came over but when said sorry we were not quite ready to order she rolled her eyes and walked away. We then had to shout another waiter over to take our order as nobody returned. 2 starters were delivered to table. 3rd I had to go to the bar and ask about as it hadn’t arrived. Told our other guests just to eat as was getting cold. I was then told it was burned and being re cooked. The mains were hot and very tasty. Shame initial service was botched up. Was an engagement meal.

Out with three friends. Ordered drinks, pint of coke was flat. Main meals arrived, not asked if we wanted any sauces, etc and two of us had fish and were not offered tartare sauce - my partner had to go to bar and ask. Salad on my plate consisted of a few leaves of iceberg lettuce (some brown) and a cherry tomato cut in half. Scampi and chips themselves were tasty. Ordered dessert - 30/40 minutes later my partner went to the bar again to ask where it was to a response of “you have not been waiting half an hour”. No, pretty sure it was longer than that. Creme brûlée for me with chewy shortbread (tasted like it was not fresh). Three crumbles of which two were cold and had to be sent back to be reheated. All in all, not a good experience and we won’t be returning which is a real shame because it’s a lovely place with a cosy atmosphere but the food and customer service let it down.

Fantastic Mother’s Day three course meal. The scallops and prawns in garlic butter were really delicious as was the roast beef. Great service and value for money.

Love the Fettykill Fox, friendly staff, always happy to help, very quick service despite being extremely busy. Food delicious - Hunters Chicken is my personal favourite. A lovely homely pub, relaxing atmosphere. Easy to find, easy to park.

Food excellent, however its a good job that we checked the bill, if we didn't we would have been overcharged by £20. This was very poor service. You should not have to Double check your bill
