Lovel meal as always. Excellent and friendly staff. Made a real fuss of my son on his birthday, with a fabulous birthday desert with a candle. Very much appreciated

Food was excellent, service also was very welcoming, helpful and prompt. Gin and Tonic was excellent, could not fault either the Chicken and Ham pie or the Gammon. Due to its popularity car park is quite tight and mostly full.

The initial welcome was fantasic, the 2 males who greeted us and took us to our table were fantastic, really friendly and efficient. the drinks order was taken and the menu and specials were explained in depth.
However once the main courses hads been served we were forgotten.
Towards the end of the meal I asked a waitres for another bottle of water. ten minutes later I had to ask one of the other members of staff and it arrived.
No one asked us if we wanted deserts or if we wanted coffee.
A dissapointing end to what started out so well.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary and my wives birthday in the evening. The young waiter was superb, friendly polite and very helpful. The food was delicious. The ambience was friendly and cosy.

Great environment, cosy, good staff and food - no complaints other than taking too long to serve starter and main course. Fully understand food cooked fresh but sat down at 7.30 and main course not arrived till 9.05pm.

We used to live on Claughton Terrace many years ago, so we have experienced various changes of management and cuisine. You have got the formula right, it seems to us; the service, the food and the ambience are all very much to our liking. We have been to dine a few times since you re-opened and enjoyed the experience greatly.
    We will be returning.

It was a great meal! The place looks great, the service was everything you could have asked for and the food was superb! Venison and pork Gyoza for starters was amazing, and the ribs were of such a high quality meat. Valentine's menu looked great (little expensive for me {£45 per head}) but we had the themed desert and it more than matched the whole experience.
Highly recommended, we shall be visiting again soon!

A very enjoyable lunch on a wet and miserable February Saturday. Recently done and looking good - Farrow and Ball colours, oak tables, comfy seats, log fires. Has 4 rooms, so could take a fair number of people without feeling crowded. Decent menu of gastro pub grub. We went for simple stuff - fish pie, chicken, ham and leek pie, smoked haddock on mash - and it was very nice. Service was very good and attentive. Because the chef had apparently overdone the fish pie and so our orders were delayed while he did another one, they gave us free puddings, which was very generous. The food actually arrived only 30 minutes after we'd ordered, which was about when I expected it to. Puddings were good too, especially the steamed ginger pudding.
