Restaurant description

Inside a beautiful 18th-century building, The Farmhouse at Mackworth serves up a great selection of world dishes. The restaurant boasts its own josper and wood-fired pizza ovens, and offers stunning views of the Peak District.

The Farmhouse at Mackworth menu makes good use of its specialist ovens – prime cuts of steak from across Britain and the U.S. are cooked in the josper charcoal oven, while sourdough pizzas from the wood-fired oven come with toppings including smoked streaky bacon, West Country brie, peppadew peppers and chorizo. Other mains include ale battered fish and chips, and pan-fried salmon with pak choi and spring onion.

On the dessert menu at The Farmhouse at Mackworth Derby, there are favourites such as raspberry ripple baked Alaska with fruit compote, and a selection of dessert wines. The bar area also mixes up a selection of cocktails, and there are premium spirits on offer, including aged Scotch and Japanese whiskies.

The Farmhouse at Mackworth perfectly combines tradition with innovation, and sits an 11-minute drive from Derby Rail Station.

Really well looked after by Lewis [?] and the food was really nice but kale not very traditional for Sunday lunch. We had desserts but I had to spend £32 to get a glass of dessert wine as not available by the glass , but overall enjoyable and will definitely come again.

Nice cosy restaurant ideal for couples and families. Nice out doors looking over the Derbyshire country side. Great food with some nice twists. Sunday lunch is really nice with a home made Yorkshire pudding which is nice to see. Servers are polite and helpful and can not do enough for you.

Staff were friendly however on this occasion the food was not great- 2 rib eye steaks were ordered and neither were cooked rare as requested- the restaurant was busy so we could not get the attention of the waitress so the steaks were left cold and not eaten- when the table was being cleared we did report it and a free drink or dessert was offered which was a nice gesture but having already paid over £20 for a steak and the occasion being a birthday it was still a little disappointing. I will return as a couple during the pizza offer times but I would not revisit as a large group again as this is the second time our food has not been up to standard.

food was very good but we had to wait for over 30 minutes before our order was taken, this was after I went to ask the waitress if we could order. Then a further 30 minutes before the food arrived. We were told that the food order ticket system failed and our order didnt make it to the kitchen. We only had sandwiches which required no cooking. The waitress did not seem interested in seeing if we were ok, we werent asked if the food was Ok, we also had to ask for a bottle of table water.

The Farmhouse has a very nice atmosphere. I had soup as starter, as did two other members of our party. I enjoyed the soup, but it could have been hotter, and one member of the party had toast that looked burnt on one side. She didn't complain because she said it tasted okay. I had duck, which was delicious. The duck was crispy but not dry at all and the casserolet was lovely. 2 members of the party had fish and chips which they thought were a bit greasy, but everyone else really enjoyed their meal.

A good evening meal, although service could have been better. It was very quick at the start, but after bringing our drinks and telling us he would come back in a couple of minutes, the waiter left it for ver 10 minutes to come back and take our for order. W've been a few times now over the last couple of years. Hard to put our finger on it, but it does seem to have lost something; the for quality is still god, but could be better for the price. Lacking in vegetables, although could have been ordered separately.
