The service, the tea and the food were just amazing. The atmosphere was wonderful, with the music low in the background and the decorations so British. I loved it

Moments from Buckingham Palace, The English Rose Café is a wonderfully British venue for traditional afternoon teas and light snacks. This quaint 'grandmother's style' space serves up cups of tea from gilded-edged china tea cups, has quirky pictures covering the walls, and even boasts a playable piano.

Time-honoured British flavours are served throughout the day on The English Rose Café menu. In the mornings, tuck into full English breakfasts or lighter options like toasted teacakes with butter and jam, while for lunch there are rustic sandwiches, the traditional ploughman's, and jacket potatoes.

Afternoon teas at The English Rose Café in Victoria are a real treat, and come with a selection of sandwiches, cakes and warm scones on a charming tiered cake stand. There is also a selection of loose leaf teas and glasses of sparking on offer too.

Perfect for visitors to Buckingham Palace to get a real feel of elegant British tradition in a cosy setting, The English Rose Café is a quaint restaurant in London that sits just 4 minutes' walk from Victoria Rail Station.

It s a lovely place near Buckingham palace. We went there for breakfast time early in the morning (9 am) and unfortunatly they dont have any bacon in the full english breakfast..... A shame no?? More ..thé service was very long..we wait 30mn. It s a pity because the place is cute.

Despite booking the table for afternoon tea the day before, our table was not ready; we were first told the afternoon tea was not available because they had run out of cake. In the end the found enough cake - slabs of it, randomly plunked on a plate. The sandwiches were tasteless and very ordinary looking. Scones hard as rocks and at least 3 days old. One pot of tea with no refill.
    Do NOT go there!

Café itself is very nice, not at all what you’d expect to find 2 minutes from Victoria Station. Service and food left a little to be desired. We had afternoon tea for two which took longer than it should have considering none of the food was cooked. The waiter seemed as if he was over it and couldn’t wait to leave (which he did by the time we’d finished) and forgot the tap water we asked for. I get the feeling they were out of certain items as the mini cakes and macarons were dwarfed by two huge pieces of chocolate fudge cake that really did not belong in such a dainty assortment. Sandwiches were fine, but for £26 I expect a better selection than cheese and onion, cheese and tomato and cream cheese and cucumber.
Don’t get me wrong, everything was good, I just don’t think it was worth the money it cost.

Great drinks, good location between Victoria station and Buckingham palace, but very basic food with not the best of ingredients.

Really lovely venue with cute décor in a very central location. I went there for brunch and the food was delicious! Coffee was also good, but the cake selection was quite poor on the day I went (I think it had been very busy). The cake I did manage to have was very tasty. Service was a little slow, but as I say, it was quite busy so I understand - I wasn't in a rush! I'll definitely come back again!
