Moments from Buckingham Palace, The English Rose Café is a wonderfully British venue for traditional afternoon teas and light snacks. This quaint 'grandmother's style' space serves up cups of tea from gilded-edged china tea cups, has quirky pictures covering the walls, and even boasts a playable piano.
Time-honoured British flavours are served throughout the day on The English Rose Café menu. In the mornings, tuck into full English breakfasts or lighter options like toasted teacakes with butter and jam, while for lunch there are rustic sandwiches, the traditional ploughman's, and jacket potatoes.
Afternoon teas at The English Rose Café in Victoria are a real treat, and come with a selection of sandwiches, cakes and warm scones on a charming tiered cake stand. There is also a selection of loose leaf teas and glasses of sparking on offer too.
Perfect for visitors to Buckingham Palace to get a real feel of elegant British tradition in a cosy setting, The English Rose Café is a quaint restaurant in London that sits just 4 minutes' walk from Victoria Rail Station.

Made a reservation through your service over a month prior. Got there and they had no record of it. I showed them the email proving the reservation and they seated us promptly.
After 20 minutes they finally took our order when I asked if we were perhaps supposed to order up front. Yes came out ten minutes later which was great. But at one hour I had to inquire if the food was going to come out soon.
They brought out food for four though we ordered (& later paid for) for six. We pointed this out and they brought out 2 more scones.
When leaving they asked how my experience was and I told them great tea, good food, but a very trying and difficult time with the service. “Oh, it’s been very busy today”. That’s what I got in reply.

Nice staff and nice place. They were out of a lot of food and we didn’t know until after we ordered (no fruit, no ice)

A quintessentially English experience. Afternoon tea served on mismatched china and a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace.

We had an enjoyable tea time.
We booked in advance. Everything was really nice and scones with cream and jam were really good

Despite the high ratings we were extremely disappointed with the afternoon tea, the scones were rock hard and truth be told did not taste like scones, the clotted cream was more like compressed whipped cream and the jam was really jelly. The cakes were also dry and tasted a day old. The sandwiches however were enjoyable. The staff were pleasant and the ambiance was lovely, so no love lost on that front but I would urge the cafe to reconsider the quality of the items on their afternoon tea.

The Sandwiches were nice, but far from special. It would have been more pleasant to have a variety of homemade lemonades (strawberry, mint ...). However, the overall expierence was pleasant and the atmosphere warm and welcoming.

Very pretty retro decor, quaint tea pots and china, was hoping for a lovely afternoon tea. Very disappointing. Service was slow, vegetarian sandwiches were boring ( one had pesto sauce spread in it with a couple of sliced cherry tomatoes) we all commented on the stale white bread. Cakes appeared shop bought and were all sliced loaf type cakes ( lemon, fruit and possibly banana) - no Victoria sponge! Scones were tasty and served with individual waxed paper sauce tubs with cream and jam in. Paid extra for a latte and was able to get decaf tea. We love our afternoon tea experiences but this really fell short of what that traditionally should be. We reserved a table but it was not ready for us when we arrived. Fortunately they had space.
