Great service. Good atmosphere. Not too happy with my meal but that's my personal taste.

Recommended in the Good Pub Guide, The Duke of York is a traditional pub and restaurant in a former coaching inn in Barnet. Renovated by award-winning pub group, Brunning & Price, The Duke of York’s styling is a nod to its rich history, and is the backdrop for refined gastro pub cuisine.

For a nutritious bite on The Duke of York menu, diners can tuck into options like kiln-smoked salmon with bitter leaf, fennel and pea salad and a chilli and coriander dressing. A range of eclectic mains sees steak and kidney pie line up alongside a Vietnamese king prawn and rice noodle salad, while a wild mushroom risotto is served with rocket leaves and truffle dressing.

A grand suburban setting, The Duke of York in Barnet boasts a floral al fresco area, while homely open fireplaces, old print photographs and rustic wooden floorboards create a welcoming interior. Silky cask ales are offered on tap alongside a sophisticated wine list.

The Duke of York sits on Barnet Road next to Wrotham Park, not far from the M25.

We live in Northants , my Sister lives on the outskirts of Brighton , so we meet here 3/4 times a year. Always a good welcome , happy staff ,plenty of choice on Menu , good parking , nice surroundings , and no loud music, pool tables, game machines , or compulsory sports screen . Food always good, just think plates could be hotter . Ave to med prices for that part of london .

This is the second time that we've dined here - a positive comment in itself. It's wide open in terms of not feeling squashed-in and you can't hear/eavesdrop on other diner's conversations - a big plus. Clean and its open-plan features are a considerable asset. One negative though - I had to chase the staff in order to pay my bill.

Great service. Food cooked well. More vegetarian options Would have been nice. One of our party struggled with the options available. Also You do not have to be a vegetarian to want to eat that you know! ;) vegetarian sausages and mash option for example would have been great. Also more sides options. However still an enjoyable meal.

Lovely setting with warm cosy atmosphere. Excellent dinner and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend this place to eat for lunch and dinner.

The garden and the restaurant were lovely, the staff was excellent and helpful but it was very busy with not enough staff to cope. I am afraid that the food was a let down, the roast pork was tasteless and no apple sauce was offered, the burgers were sent back because they were not nice, and the roast potatoes were hard. A real shame as the Enviroment and staff were so nice, please sort out your food.
