Brought to you by Alan Yau, whose other restaurants include Yauatcha and Hakkasan, The Duck and Rice mixes classic British pub style and authentic Chinese recipes. This trendy hideaway features a striking, geometric-stained glass frontage, and a unique digital jukebox that allows diners to pick their own playlist.
Bursting with Chinese favourites, The Duck and Rice menu spans from sharing-style dim sum plates, to time-honoured rice and noodle dishes. Specials change monthly, while championed signature dishes include jasmine-smoked pork ribs, curried crab, and Cantonese lobster. Desserts at Duck and Rice in Soho include peanut butter ice cream, or decadent chocolate pudding.
An impressive bar stock pays tribute to the West End’s neighbouring pubs, with cask ales, local beers, and Pilsner served from a shimmering copper tank on offer. Along with a selective world wine list, artisan gin & tonics and unique ‘beer cocktail’ concoctions are mixed at the bar.

Food was very mediocre for the price.

Delicious food as always. Not as many waiting staff on our visit so service was busy. But overall very good and will be back.

Pre-Covid, we used to love Duck and Rice and go there often. We were therefore incredibly excited to return there for lunch. What a disappointment! All of our favourite dishes had disappeared (chicken wings, yakitori) and the dishes that we did order were decidedly mediocre. The venison puffs and Shanghai chicken dumplings were served cold. The new crispy duck fried rice dish looked and tasted like something that had been made out of whatever the chefs had left in the kitchen, and the cashewnut chicken was fatty and soggy. I appreciate that restaurants are having to adjust but this was incredibly poor. It was unsurprising that the restaurant, which used to be buzzing, was practically empty.

Duck was delicious. Everything else was overpriced for what it is. Singapore noodles were a bit basic and lacked distinguishable flavours.
