Customer reviews for The Drawing Rooms

We had the adults science afternoon tea and the kids sci-fi afternoon tea at the drawing rooms. We were really impressed with the whole experience! The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent and the whole afternoon tea experience was great! It was very child friendly here, my daughter and nephew (both 4) loved it! Would definitely recommend to all.

Went with my best friend to the Scientific Tea celebrating our 70th birthdays.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and all the amazing foods that came with our afternoon tea. The passion fruit desserts were a particular favorite. My only wish would be the initial experiment drink had a recipe card/methods (as it would be called in scientific research).

Amazing experience, the science tea was fantastic, especially for the kids. Service was fantastic and so was the food!

Very nice and elegant. Interesting and delicious food preparations (I had the space-themed vegan high tea)

Great theme, food and tea was lovely and there was a nice touch of adding a plate of “Happy Birthday” truffles.
However the service was very slow, we requested more sandwiches but it took so long we ended up going onto scones by the time they arrived. There was a ludicrously long wait to just get the bill which made us late for our next appointment despite leaving plenty of time
There was also someone vacuuming for 10 mins during our afternoon tea which meant we could hear each other

Unfortunately it was not the experience I was expecting, the attention to detail was mediocre and service was of poor quality. Staff were not readily available.
I have been to several afternoon teas of exceptional standard and was expecting the same level of service.
Our table was not cleared of a spillage my son of 5 yrs had caused, staff dropped food off my son’s spaceship tray which was not replaced, waited long to be served our drinks, only offered my partner an extra savoury roll.
The most concerning was although highlighted my son’s nut allergy at the time of booking and made a note upon booking form, staff were not aware of my son’s nut allergy which I had to make them aware of again (hence poor attention to detail). With all the recent allergy attention in the media/news and schools I would have expected a hotel of your calibre to be on “top of your game” especially as the science afternoon tea is aimed at children!
I had also mentioned it was my younger son’s 5th bday and nothing was arranged not even a simple “happy birthday” was mentioned to him by the staff. :(
Adult food was of good quality and selection however the children’s tray was full of sugar.
The science part for the children was great, they really enjoyed making the drink and the dry ice effect so thank you for that.

Fun ideas and staff were nice, however the food and drink ranged from OK to bad. The experiment drink to being was not nice and the Petri dish tasted of vinegar. Theme was great but that can’t come before quality/taste of food. The only thing I want more of was the small savoury tart. Overall there was a lot of sweet food and not enough savoury to balance it out. No cream included for the scone on the tea-pot rails option either.
