Arrived 15mins earlier than booked time and proceeded to the Bar. Ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio and advised the Bar staff member we had a table booked for lunch. Ok she said. She opened the bottle and presented it in an ice bucket with 2 glasses. That will be £22.00 please.... My goodness that’s a cheap lunch.... and I’ve not ordered yet.... oh no wait, she completely missed the point of me mentioning I was booked for lunch so a tab would have been appreciated. I paid and reminded her we were booked for lunch. She acknowledged this and so we sat down to enjoy the wine. We proceeded to the restaurant area 10mins past our booking time. The Restaurant Manager was not aware of us even being on the premises..... fortunately I had 5mins before my booking would have been cancelled as it had not been noted we had arrived. Other than the welcome hiccup the lunch and service was excellent. Top marks to the Derby Arms for a superb luncheon. It’s a shame communications between staff cannot be overstated here.

Atmosphere was good - the service was also good at first but had to wait ages for the dessert menu and again to pay. I appreciate it was busy as it was a Friday but a little more attention would have been welcome. My fishcakes were nice but the chips were cold - not impressed!

I enjoy the Derby Arms but last Saturday extremely busy & did not get a good service. Table not ready when we arrived. Queued for drinks at the bar, after 20minutes as we just git our drinks table was ready. When food came no one asked did we want any sauces etc. I saw our waitress asked for some Parmesan cheese never came. We will not return until winter now as they cannot cope with all the extra outside diners
