With crackling log fires, exposed Tudor oak beams and squeaky floors, The Crown Framlingham is a pub filled with history and rural charm. Wholesome gourmet pub recipes are served alongside world beers, with a tranquil al fresco area perfect for relaxed drinking and dining.
Seasonal British dishes are found on the Crown Framlingham menu, beautifully presented and with unique touches. To start, there is ham hock and pea shoot terrine with croute and wholegrain remoulade, while for mains there are regional flavours such as the locally made Bloody Mary sausages with spiced bean, garlic mash and crisp pancetta. Fresh seafood delicacies are seen in dishes like pan-fried cod with local asparagus, seafood bisque and crab beignets, and there are vegetarian delicacies like fresh mint risotto with feta, roasted courgette and basil crisps.
Local flavours continue on the dessert menu at The Crown in Suffolk, such as the homemade apple crumble with a hint of cinnamon served with homemade rhubarb ice cream, as well as the locally produced ice cream selection. The Crown Framingham wine list is extensive, with bottles from all across the globe, and there is also a selection of international beers.
Filled with traditional charm, and surrounded by historic local sights such as the 11th-century Framlingham Castle, The Crown is a 13-minute drive from Wickham Market Rail Station.

Now it's into winter it would be enhancing if the dinning room fire was lit. Compared to the other public areas, the restaurant was a little soulless. The service was good and the young waiter did a competent job. On this occasion, the food was a touch mediocre. My colleague had a minute steak which was chewy and the meat in my steak pie wasn't much better. Previously we have enjoyed your fish and chips but the portions are quite large and neither of us felt we could tackle it on this occasion.

Nice small dining room, quiet no piped music. Good selection of classic good pub food. Staff were attentive without being too over bearing.

The Crown serves straightforrward mainly English food which we thoroughly enjoyed. The service was excellent, the ambiance was relaxed and the other diners were clearly enjoying themselves too. This is not a restaurant where the food demands to be admired for its cleverness but was all the better for it. Very naughty deserts and a cheerful bottle of wine rounded off an excellent evening. Thanks everyone.

Staff were terrific but everything else hopeless. The total bill was reduced as a consequence but that's not the point really. Lighting, piped music, odd furniture layout all contributed to a lack of atmosphere. The Crown occupies a beautiful building in the best spot in a beautiful and charming Suffolk town. It could absolutely mop up with a bit more care and attention but sadly, not on this showing.

A pleasant meal. The roast and a few other things had run out on the Sunday evening that we stayed, but the alternatives were enjoyable enough. Service was very friendly and accommodating.

I don't like leaving a negative review and have had OK visits to The Crown, but I was disappointed with our meal and our overall experience on Sunday 17th June. The service was slow (even though there were not many people in the restaurant) and the food was not particularly inspiring. Two of my children had burgers which were served without salads and no dressings offered. The chips looked slightly overcooked. My rocquefort sad could have done with another ingredient, possibly pear, to break the dish up a bit. As I said, service was slow. The place is beginning to look a little shabby and a bit less pristine that I recall from the past. It may have been that we ate late (1.30) and the restaurant had been very busy, but this was an underwhelming visit.

Very good service. Very limited menu - perhaps too limited - but food was good. Nice relaxed atmosphere.

We were very happy with our meals and the service although two of the party are vegans and there wasn't much for them to choose from.
