With crackling log fires, exposed Tudor oak beams and squeaky floors, The Crown Framlingham is a pub filled with history and rural charm. Wholesome gourmet pub recipes are served alongside world beers, with a tranquil al fresco area perfect for relaxed drinking and dining.

Seasonal British dishes are found on the Crown Framlingham menu, beautifully presented and with unique touches. To start, there is ham hock and pea shoot terrine with croute and wholegrain remoulade, while for mains there are regional flavours such as the locally made Bloody Mary sausages with spiced bean, garlic mash and crisp pancetta. Fresh seafood delicacies are seen in dishes like pan-fried cod with local asparagus, seafood bisque and crab beignets, and there are vegetarian delicacies like fresh mint risotto with feta, roasted courgette and basil crisps.

Local flavours continue on the dessert menu at The Crown in Suffolk, such as the homemade apple crumble with a hint of cinnamon served with homemade rhubarb ice cream, as well as the locally produced ice cream selection. The Crown Framingham wine list is extensive, with bottles from all across the globe, and there is also a selection of international beers.

Filled with traditional charm, and surrounded by historic local sights such as the 11th-century Framlingham Castle, The Crown is a 13-minute drive from Wickham Market Rail Station.

Took 10 minutes for the waiters to show us to our table, but after that service was great, food was delicious and cooked well, and had a pleasant experience overall.

Breakfast was lovely but we had to sit down in amongst two tables littered with the remnants of other people’s breakfasts and I had to ask twice for the tables to be cleared. The staff need to be taught to look and not walk out of the room empty handed.

Our friends were really looking forward to our meal last Saturday at the Crown, on entering the dining room first impression was very dull and tables unattractive considering it was Christmas. My husband ordered a beer which was off so that was not a good start. The starters were fine but the main courses were not good, the men had the pie which was very plain and tasteless, my friend had the burger (only asking for one not two) and I had the chicken as there was very little else on the menu to take my fancy. The burger didnt even look as good as Burgerking, chips looked burnt and the whole thing looked uninteresting. My chicken was dried up with very little sauce, teaspoon of peas but the chips were not bad. Three of us had the apple crumble for dessert when that arrived it was only tepid so we sent it back, when returned and started to taste it well the crumble was just lumps of biscuite which were not very nice, we could not eat them sent them back and said we were not paying for them. We didnt see a waiter again, we were going to have a coffee but as the service was not good we decided to get our bill. They had deducted the 3 crumbles but no reduction for the 1 burger so my friend said could she either have something taken off the bill or give it to her to take to her dog, they took off £3. There was no evidence of any senior person or Manager around only the very young girls and boys. It was such a shame but sorry to say we will not be returning to the Crown or recommending it to our friends.

Now it's into winter it would be enhancing if the dinning room fire was lit. Compared to the other public areas, the restaurant was a little soulless. The service was good and the young waiter did a competent job. On this occasion, the food was a touch mediocre. My colleague had a minute steak which was chewy and the meat in my steak pie wasn't much better. Previously we have enjoyed your fish and chips but the portions are quite large and neither of us felt we could tackle it on this occasion.

Nice small dining room, quiet no piped music. Good selection of classic good pub food. Staff were attentive without being too over bearing.
