Our first visit here with friends for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. Food was excellent as well as the service. Nothing too much trouble and very friendly making us feel very welcome. We will definitely return!

All the food was excellent - the Tomato consommé was a delight and the Kulfi dessert was a picture postcard. Service was prompt and efficient. The only downside was that one of the main courses was not available - a better impression would have been left if it had been removed from the menu before being presented to the customers!

Absolutely fantastic food in a really lovely pub setting. A fairly small and refined menu with excellent local quality ingredients - pork belly and steak were both faultless. The chocolate fondant peanut butter brittle desert was perfect.

Overall it was very good. I was disappointed that the sea bass was not available and we had the sea bream instead. It wa overlooked. Other than that everything was fine. The waitress was excellent.

My wife and I ate here on Saturday 22nd July at lunchtime. We are eaten quite a number of tasting menus, with wine flight, so are expectations were quite particularly as said menu at the Artichoke in Amersham has been superb the number of times we've tried it. First off there was no one else in the restaurant which was rather strange and meant there was no atmosphere. However, the waitress was excellent throughout the meal, made us feel very comfortable and made an extra effort to answer any questions we had. The Amuse Bouche, a spiced lentil soup, was very good as was the accompanying champagne. Ditto the following course of Chicken Terrine and Pea Pannacotta, though both were rather small portions even for a tasting menu. Unfortunately the next two 'main' dishes on the menu were very poor; not from a quality point of view but simply because they were so uninteresting. First up was cod and chips....I was expecting something inventive, not actually what we got which was...cod and chips, yes literally. A small piece of battered cod with bits of batter on top, one chip, more pea puree and a bland splodge of curry sauce. We couldn't believe it! Next up was a piece of pork belly with some soy sauce on tiny rice noodles. Hilariously this was served in a high sided cereal dish so it was nigh impossible to get to the food with the knife and fork provided...deeply disappointing. The final dish, lemon curd was excellent. One final point. All the wines were from a tap not bottle (we found this out after questioning why there was sediment in our white wine). I'm not in principle against wine on tap but what does worry me is that wines are not being chosen on the basis that they match the food, rather that they are available in the hotel bar on tap! I'm sorry to say that the restaurant has a long way to go if it's to rival the Artichoke for food, especially as the prices are eye wateringly expensive for what you receive.

Went to the restaurant for my girlfriends birthday and we both had the pork belly. Our food was fantastic and the wine that was recommended to accompany the food was delicious. Our dessert was the lemon curd and that didn't let us down either and was great. All round brilliant little restaurant, would highly recommend.
