The Crown in Hartest is a charming country pub pairing a seasonal food menu with real ales and an impressive wine list. With an open fire place and exposed brick walls, the interior is rustic and homely, whilst the large beer garden offers al fresco dining and a play area for the kids.
The Crown pub menu is a blend of classic dishes and international flavours. Try the Gressingham duck breast with butter beans, charred lettuce and rhubarb, curried chickpea burger with pineapple chutney, or seabass fillet with sprouting broccoli tart. The kids aren’t left out with a dedicated menu, whilst grazing boards and bar snacks are on hand for a lighter bite.
Home to a hearty Sunday roast, The Crown Bury St Edmunds also host regular live music and events, placing it firmly at the heart of the community. Committed to local produce, the pub even adds its own beer to the impressive drinks selection.
The Crown in Suffolk sits on the edge of the village green. Bury St Edmunds is a 15-minute drive away.

Venue was lovely and the staff attentive. The food was OK but disappointing and rather mundane - the goat's cheese and red onion tart was dry and boring and the potato salad added nothing. I think the rest of the group found their meals OK: two of the starters, the devilled sprats and the whitebait looked exactly the same - brown!!

Great location, helpful staff, good food and range of options - homemade range of desserts (puds and cheeseboard) exceptional and original.

Just a lovely place to eat. One of the few pubs that serve later on a Sunday. Atmosphere, food and service all excellent.

The bread is lovely, nice tables, not too noisy and the portions are reasonable.

t. Was surprised to find so few people there at 12.45 as we expected it to be full.
Bingham Blue brûlée was unusual and quite nice although I would have liked it to taste more of the cheese.i.e. More savoury.
Plaice was very nicely cooked. Veg were very good but could have been hotter.
The back ground music was too loud for us , as we were sitting underneath the speaker. However, on request it was turned down.n

Lovely well looked after garden in which we enjoyed our supper. This was a family outing with two young children and The Crown catered very adequately for us all.
