We had our breakfast at the Crooked Spoon after our Alton towers scarefest break which we do every year but being as we are in the Covid-19 pandemic. I was worried that the restaurant wouldn't be able to cope with the volume of people in such a small space as it is normally rammed when we eat breakfast here and I'm afraid to say I was correct. The restaurant was jam packed and it definitely wasn't Covid secure. Their was a constant flow of people passing our table as it wasn't table service which I was really surprised at as I really thought they would have got rid of the buffet for now with all the mad restrictions going on, the buffet was served to you by a member of staff but it just didn't work in such a small restaurant, I frankly couldn't wait to get out of there as it really didn't feel safe being so close to that many people at this current time, the only positives I would say is the staff were efficient and really friendly and the food was as good as always. It's just a shame the way breakfast is served at the moment as it definitely should be table service in such a small restaurant while Covid is about, but once this pandemic is over I would definitely recommend the crooked spoon to anyone staying at Alton towers resort.

Nice but the new limited menu is very poor, sadly. The chips are the worst, very dry and tasteless. Breakfast is a lot less choice than the other hotels and the fried eggs are solid and very overcooked. Toast is more like bread threatened with a heat source.

Lovely attentive staff. All very slick check in. Food fair for the price.

Great service lovely food would be better if there was more choice on the menu though.

Breakfast was enjoyable, however, I felt it was lacking in healthier breakfast options. More fruit choices would have helped improve this. Our lunch and evening meals were incredibly overpriced for the food quality we received. I received a bowl which contained 3 tiny teaspoon size scoops of ice cream one evening which was covered in ice particles, hardly worth the £6 I was charged. Presentation was non existent also. We didn’t order dessert again. Staff were both friendly and efficient.

This was a disaster as I booked for 6 people and was told the booking they received had us down for only 2 people, so we didn’t get to eat there and had to find somewhere else.

Table booked months ago. Seated in a drafty corridor with plastic windows. Terribly cold.

We booked to dine here twice but didn’t go the second time. The food was very limited, only 4 options for the children which one of our children didn’t like anything on the menu, the chicken goujons for kids were spicy. The adults chicken meal was too dry . There was not much option for adults either. They definitelyneed more choice especially for kids. The chips are meant to be extra crunchy, they were soft on the outside and because they were so think they were not done right and very dry inside. We just didn’t enjoy it at all and us adults are not that picky either.
