Restaurant description
Housed in a building dating back to 1776, The Cowper Arms is a restored country pub & restaurant serving a seasonal menu of unfussy British food. With a large beer garden for al fresco dining outside, and wooden ceiling beams, rustic furniture & fireplaces inside, this pub is a cosy place to enjoy a hearty homemade meal.
Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Cowper Arms menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.
A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Cowper Arms cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.
The Cowper Arms in Letty Green is a 7-minute drive from Hertford North Rail Station.

Delicious lunch. Lovely waitress who moved when we said we felt chilly near the door. Served with a smile.

Lovely ambience in the restaurant Tables set lovely. A range of drinks. Friendly, welcoming staff Knowledgeable about the menu Not the cheapest of restaurants, some items are expensive, i.e. fillet steak. plate not very full but was enjoyed. Different size of steak would be nice, it was too big for my mum.

A very enjoyable experience. Unfortunately my chicken was burnt and overcooked. I won't choose that again, but apart from that the rest of the food was of a good standard and the service was excellent, if a little slow.

As ever totally lovely food, good beer & great service. Unfortunately the booking service is rubbish, I tried to change my booking from 8 to 5 people twice & it was all automated. I also got through on another number they supplied & left a message again, but this was not updated. Very poor booking service. No chance of altering anything once you've booked it.
