We arrived at the cow and our booked table was waiting for us in the corner with a high chair as requested. We had a perfect view of the outside paddocks. There was plenty of space at the table.
Our menus were brought and there was no sign of Sunday lunch. Upon asking a waitress she informed us that they dont do them over the summer holidays because it gets too hectic. Given I had booked us in at the cow for a Sunday lunch this was very disappointing! Our visit to tapnell farm was subsequently booked for a Sunday to fit round this Sunday lunch too. We received no communication to say that they would not be being served, the only mention of them on the website was that it was advisable to book which we had done.
The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered the burger sharing platter between two adults and a child and my other child had the Mac and cheese. Food was very high standard and delicious although expensive for the amount of food received. The sharing platter could have had more chips, for example. Another improvement would be to give garlic bread with the Mac n cheese rather than buttered sliced bread.
My youngest child then fell asleep and we were able to lay him down on the bench on the sheepskin throw - perfect!
For dessert my elder son had ice cream and we had sticky toffee which was very good!
Ambience was casual and family friendly, my boys enjoyed looking at the art work of cows on the walls.

Excellent burger. Tender and juicy. Great location and still looks rustic and new.

It was our first visit to The Cow but definitely won't be our last. We were a family of 7 (and a dog!) having lunch on Wednesday and were immediately impressed by the friendly greeting we received and an immediate offer of a bowl of water for our parched pooch. The food was extremely tasty and I thought the prices compared favourably with other restaurants and pubs on the Island.

I took my wife and 5 year old daughter to The Cow to celebrate my wife's birthday. My wife, who is pretty choosy about red meat, opted for the hangar steak (medium rare) and fortunately it was cooked to perfection. Completely melt in the mouth and bursting with flavour! The sides with the steak were also good, as were the mac and cheese (starter portion for my daughter, not the one from the kids' menu), halloumi fries and scallops. We had the peppercorn and chimichurri sauces with the steak which both lacked punch, but were fine, and also I had a mojito which was surprisingly disappointing given the general high standard.
The venue is lovely, it's well worth setting aside time for a wander around after your meal, or arrive early and spend some time in the farm / soft-play. It's all casual and with plenty of space so no sense of being sat on top of other tables. The service was great, both attentive and friendly which is always helps make for a special evening.

Wagyu special was best burger I’ve ever tasted. Others loved their steaks and burgers too. Great place, wish it opened more evenings too.
