Restaurant description

A short stroll from Tower Bridge, The Coal Shed London serves succulent grilled dishes using the finest meat and seafood. Watch the chefs at work through the glass-concealed kitchen, which plays host to the famed charcoal grill.

Alongside sharing cuts of steak, The Coal Shed menu also features dishes like confit duck hash, seaweed-cured salmon, fire-roasted lemon sole and smoked goat shoulder, all made using native rare breed meats and ethically caught South Coast fish. On Sundays, a sharing roast of 35-day aged 500g Black Aberdeen Angus is served with all the trimmings, including beef fat potatoes, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings and smoked gravy.

Contemporary décor, floor-to-ceiling windows and an open kitchen make for an atmospheric setting. A cocktail bar and impressive wine list are also on hand to complement the menu.

Find The Coal Shed a 9-minute walk from London Bridge Station.

food and service were excellent, the wine prices are through the roof though, and do not match the food value.

Really enjoyed the sirloin steak and the beef dripping chips were amazing.

Food and service were excellent, the chateaubriand was superb, but the restaurant was extremely noisy. It was Friday lunchtime and the place was packed but we were surrounded by hard surfaces, walls, floor, ceiling which magnified the sounds - it was really difficult to hear our dining companions and the waiters speaking. Good wine list but expensive we felt..

I decided to give my wife a surprise dinner out and having seen it on a tv documentary decided on The Coal Shed. We ordered the duck to share only to be told that they had run out. The same with a summer pudding desert and another couple of items that were pointed out to us before we ordered. This was rather disappointing as with such a small menu (which I prefer) I would have thought it would not have been too difficult to keep stock levels up. The overall experience was pleasant as was the service.

Started with delicious cocktails at the bar . Service is friendly and just attentive enough to not be intrusive. Our food was gorgeous. Crab starter for me, smoked salmon for himself. I had sea bream, he had lamb and we were both v happy. Second visit, it won't be our last.

Lovely place BUT very noisey with too many hard surfaces. Food excellent EXCEPT for the bone marrow which was tasteless. The goat dish for two was delicious. You SHOULD keep non alcoholic beer in stock.

Very good food at a reasonable price and an ideal location if going to the Bridge Theatre. That said if meeting friends in the area would certainly recommend as a place to go for lunch or dinner
