Serving stylish British cuisine without the stuffiness, The Clarendon is a former pub that now offers so much more. The Clarendon is a destination venue with an eclectic menu and a carefully considered wine list.
The upstairs dining area has an elegant yet casual ambience. The downstairs is buzzy and informal. The straightforward British food with international influences is ideal for dinner with family and friends, and the modern look and feel makes it perfect for morning coffee, lunch or an early tea with the kids.
The bar and lounge serves a variety of real ales, modern beers, champagne and cocktails in an eye-catching setting, with open fires and contemporary British art throughout.

I went on a first date and the restaurant couldn't have made it a more comfortable experience if they tried! Loved it all and would definitely go back.

Lunch time, Sunday - called to book table as expected it to be busy. Half empty still had to wait 40 minutes between starter and main.

I used to live in Watford but moved away over 15 years ago and the last time i went to The Clarendon it was a pub frequented by "walkers" from whippendell woods. As chef i like to get recomendtions for Restuarants to eat in so my sister who had heard good reviews about it recomended it and as it was my wifes birthday and we were coming to Watford for the weeekend i booked a table online. well you can i magine my a surprise when we arrived...what a transformation!! The outside area is all candles and lights with a coverd seating area with a roaring fire and a "drinks service" bell. In side is sophisticated and decorated to a very high standard with mirrors, candles and printed walls all complimenting each other. The food fresh and imaginative and was also of an extremley high standard and a varied but not excessive choice and not over the top prices. A comprehensive wine list and very attentive(but not annoying)staff who made our evening 5*. even though we live 100 away we will be dining here again very soon.***** Dinning

we dined at 7.30 on 5th november. booked on line. probably lucky to get a table on the night because of firework displays. one of the best meals i've had, perfectly cooked. we had rib of beef for two with dauphinoise potatoes & green beans. the house white happened to be my favourite, sauvignon blanc. wonderful! service was great but slightly rushed until we asked to be left alone for a while! they did need the table back by 9.30. a fantastic dining experience.

As a group of 8 we were obliged to have the set menu which is set at 3 courses for [$] whether you want all three or not which is not something I have ever encountered. The food was good but why should I have to pay for something I am not having?

I prefer to have a table on the first floor as the ground floor is a little cramped and noisy.
