Part of a small family-run group of restaurants, The Cinnamon Tree is a modern Indian eatery with a cosy, homely atmosphere set in the Cardiff suburb of Pontcanna. An authentic, delicately spiced menu mixes old favourites with inventive ingredients such as ostrich steaks and diced venison, complemented by a well-chosen wine list. There's a laid-back bar upstairs for after-dinner drinks.

Booking was fine Bought a Pre paid Voucher [$] Did not have food that was ordered, rice, chips and Nam cold. We were two elderly ladies that often go to India on holidayws so were not impressed with the food we don't eat very much, so did not choose the dearest on the Menu we were presented with a bill at the end of the evening so be carefull what you order they even charged for Pompadums and sauces which are free in all Indian Restaurants.

In spite of booking 3 weeks before the date and confirming the use of vouchers for our party we were told by the manager before ordering our meal that he would not honour the vouchers as we had not confirmed their use previously and that he had "done enough vouchers for that day "!There followed an embarassing standoff in the now full restaurant as we stated our case. Although abrupt and adamant at first the manager eventually relented once he became aware that it was a family birthday celebration. It was a very unprofessional performance by the manager and he then informed us that our choice was limited and we would have to pay a surcharge on certain meals. We eventually enjoyed our meal and the waiter staff were excellent. However, I will definately not visit again.

Ate at about 6.30pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was quite busy so there was a nice buzz to the place. This was a return visit for us as we chose the place at randam last time and were suitably impressed enough to reurn. The food was excellent again with good friendly service. We live in Devon and visit Cardiff 3/4 times a year in connection with the University. Being able to book on line was really helpful.
