Boasting vintage styling of oak beams and stone, The China House in Plymouth offers traditional British pub cuisine in a spacious and open environment. From the cosy log-fire inside, or the al fresco beer garden outside, fantastic views over the Sutton Harbour Marina can be enjoyed.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The China House menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The China House ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The China House is just a 20-minute walk, or a 4-minute drive, from central Plymouth.

Unfortunately was very poor, my husband and son had steak, it wasn't the best, I had hunters chicken, had about ten chips, we were very disappointed with it all, we were a group 9 people, had family down for the holiday, we have had the same menu at the Jack Rabbit in Plymouth and have never had a bad meal, don't know what went wrong, won't be rushing back, spent a lot of money that night.

For a Christmas Day meal we expected it to be busy, but the staff and service were exceptional, friendly and accommodating, we loved the food too!
Would absolutely book again next year, this time with the kids probably

The appearance of the venue is impressive, with evidence of being a historic building. The layout allows for parties or couples to dine with ease.

We have eaten at the China House on many occasions but we found the waiter on Tuesday rather belligerent and this has been the second time the other time was a Monday with friends.
The best waiters are Thom and his sister they always make time to say hi and make you feel welcome. Not sure when we will visit the place again.

Good atmosphere and nice building. Staff were pleasant and efficient. All of the food was good, Lamb Koftas especially so.

I could not really recommend particular dish as they all sound so good. But the calamari and the battered cod are very good, also the melted Camembert cheese.
Hope to be going there next week with friends and as always Thom is very attentive.

We eat at the China House on a fairly regular basis. The food is always good and so is the service. They never rush you to leave which is really nice as you and friends can eat- drink and talk.
