On entering the newly refurbished restaurant, I am not entirely sure that I like the change. I am not really fond of the shabby chic look. The menu is of the same high standard, however I think for people who choose steak, having then to choose extras to make it into a proper meal brings the price up, so I classed that as very expensive. The only other thing is the three times cooked chips, they are larger and they do not taste has juicy and crispy as they once did, in fact they appeared a little dry, this was commented on by two other people in the party. I don't want it to appear all negative, as it still is a very good dining experience, with exceptionally friendly staff. I wish you all success with your new refurbishment.

Staff shortages, redecoration, stock issues, flies and whilst waiting a lengthy time to receive our main course to be constantly asked if we would like some more drinks somewhat spoilt the day!
The belly pork was excellent. One of the party asked for a fillet steak, rare, and was told they only had one left and it would come medium rare. In fact it was nearer medium and being the last one we knew it couldn't be replaced so accepted it, especially having waited so long for our main courses. Yes I understand they were two down in the kitchen but......!
To be flippantly told you are in the country as a response when we battled the flies was not helpful!
The female waiting staff were very good.

All three of us really enjoyed our meal. Lasagne, beef pie and fish and chips were all excellent. Triple-cooked chips are scrumptious. The friendly and efficient service was excellent. Everything about our experience was thoroughly enjoyable: we'll revisit often.
