Restaurant description

The Cheltenham Chase Hotel is a great base when exploring the Cotswolds. A modern 4-star hotel with easy access to the M5 and Cheltenham Race Course.

Hardy’s Restaurant showcases stunning views of the surrounding landscapes including the infamous ‘Cheese Rolling Hill’. Soak up the views from inside the restaurant or while enjoying a decadent afternoon tea with something sparkling on the extensive terrace area.

Hardy’s restaurant we offer a wide range of classic British and internationally influenced-delights such as deep-fried haddock and triple-cooked chips and lamb tagine with Moroccan couscous.

Afternoon tea at The Cheltenham Chase Hotel offers a unique selection of 3 styles. The ‘Birdcage’ is a more traditional offering, whilst ‘Bookcase’ is a quirky, tasty and appetising delight. Each selection is served with freshly made madeleines and bottomless award-winning Novus loose leaf tea.

The food was adequate and reasonably priced, but the service was incredibly slow. Fine if you have 2+ hours to sit and eat, but otherwise give it a miss!

The food was not to the standard of a 4star hotel, the starter was poor, main meal was OK, but the dessert was very nice, also the service was very poor, it took 45 mins to be served drinks, and at the end of the meal we had to get up and find the waiter to ask and pay for the bill. it took over 2 hours to be served our meal that was not special.

We enjoyed a very tasty dinner here, consisting of starters and some of the nice steak we have eaten for a while. The cheeseboard was delicious too. The staff were friendly and accommodating and we never felt under pressure to hurry up or leave. Breakfast the next morning was just as good - with such a wide selection one was really spoilt for choice.

Disappointing afternoon tea, the scones were amazing, but the sandwiches were very disappointing. Salmon was very vinegary tasting, too much mayonnaise on the egg mayonnaise, however the chicken sandwich were lovely. The cakes were very nice but were more mousses than cakes and could have done with more variety in texture.

Good choice of food that was very tasty. Prices reasonable for restaurant so didn’t have any trouble keeping within the inclusive £28 deal. Service was a little slow, had to chase up for wine order, although staff were polite. To improve, could offer bread whilst waiting to order as took a little time to take order and then bring out starters. Plenty of tables for 2.

The food was lovely. The staff were very polite and gave us time to select our dinner. The prices were brilliant and you can enjoy a three course for around £30.

We found staff disorganised and lacked ability to cope with a room full of customers

Sadly the whole experience was poor apart from the service from the duty restaurant manager? He was very lovely but service overall was very lack luster...we waited over 15 minutes for the bill as there seemed some confusion as we were paying as apposed to staying at the hotel ... clearly the staff aren't used to outsiders coming for meals in your restaurant. The food was very average sadly we won't return to eat though we do appreciate your comfy sofas in the bar area !
