Overlooking the intriguing ruins of an old monastery, The Castell Mynach near Cardiff delivers traditional British pub cuisine in a beautiful country atmosphere, but remains comfortably close to the city. The seasonally prepared food can be enjoyed in front of the cosy log fire, or al fresco from the beer garden with views of the monastery.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Castell Mynach menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Castell Mynach ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Could not fault the food. My wife's traditional roast beef and my cod and chips were the best we have tasted

Was told when we went to order.. No Pizza, no chicken, no lamb .. there was 1 burger stack left! I wanted jacket potato and was told couldn't have that... had to ask for a clean knife as mine was dirty .. also after we had ordered our food and another table had their food they had Hunters Chicken which we were told NO CHICKEN on menu! not happy with our overhaul experiance ... food we had was ok and desert was fine we did have the 25% off bill so that was good value ... but we wont be rushing back there again. Staff was curtious to us so no problem there. We have been here before and had a better experience.

This is one of the best venues for a Sunday roast. We have tried a few different places locally but this is by far the best.

Lots of food on the menu not available on the evening we went.
Steak was not good - very chewy and no flavour.
Trifle was probably the worst I've ever had.

Restaurant was very care worn and uncomfortably hot. Food was poor and not a place I would visit again any time soon.
